Just finished my complete overhaul. I took the plenum off and replaced all the gaskets, plugs, cam seals etc. Easy job when you've got the plenum off. Was also a perfect time to paint the engine parts and replace old hoses, clips etc.
Ill post pics of the completed look once its finished.

Disconnect all wires, plugs, hoses, brackets etc that will stop it from coming off. Watch out for the main engine loom at hte back, which is bolted from behind, uses a 10mm bolt.
And just remove it. Replace the gasket when your done aswell. It is recommended to use a torque wrench, but yeah..if you can judge well...u might not have to.
Heres what it looks like without the plenum:
And the plenum itself:

Hijack!
Look slike someone has an EGR pipe begging to be capped! No point in cleaning when it's just going to dirty up in a few months
I like your headers, they look nice from what you can see.
New distributor cap, painted the heads, transmission. Looks good.

Well..i have created my own gasket for the EGR. It's a thin aluminium one. It has two holes either side for the bolts. And thats it...........soooo.....yeah u get my drift.
Cant remove the whole unit because if/when I get pulled up for an inspection..cops will see it straight away. So this way..looks a little more stock. Hehe. If only they knew.
It looks even better now that the valve covers and intake are painted. Ill have pics soon. ;P

^ I did that also. (thin plate with two holes, held on by the stock fitting)
It couldn't hold it. Even with sealer it would leak
If that doesn't work, you might want to find a fitting cap so you can throw the entire pipe & system away.

is it still possible to do this without removing the intake plenum? it might be cramped but is it possible to actually get it in there do all the things needed. i also would need to clean the insides probably. got any suggestions on a good way to clean the insides?
