any one know the size of the stock exhaust piping on a 96 LE I4? i need the answer quick before the auto parts stores close i wanna redo my exhaust tonight!
its all done its not ghetto rigged it just looks like that since me and my buddy had the great idea of painting every thing gloss black since we had time to kill and we liked smoking inside my garage, any who pics will be up soon. im not looking to go any bigger yet mabey later on after i get rid of the cat and get a header an all that jazz right now i just wanted to get the fart can that my bud gave me ( yes i know its sad) but its only temporary for now just to mess round a lil untill i get every thing the way i likes it on the inside of the car then the work will start on the outside and for the performance. btw check my thread in the general discussion part it will have quite a funny tale.
just gut it. cost about $50-100 to get a test pipe made... about 1/2 the price if you want it cut off and just a new pipe welded (no flanges). gutti gis teh easiest way, just remember with no cat your exhasut is going to be dirty.
stock v6 vat is straight though design (it is a lot wider then what you can see here), same as a magnaflow cat, just of course, 2.25" openings.

I got a test pipe for an old Nissan of mine from a muffler shop in TX. Make sure you don't have emmissions control where you live or you'll fail for not having a cat.

A test pipe would imply it's removable, no?
So you could very easily just put the stock cat back on for emissions testing.
Doesn't seem too complicated, just use anti-seize and washers.
i just looked under le cam and notice it would be way too much work for me to even care to do a test pipe so i'm just putting it off till the muffler gets a hole in it 12 years from now and then do all the work when i have too

and I know for sure gen 4.5 have them..
BTW, yeah my test pipe was removeable and the factory cat could be placed back there. But it is a hassle. But not too much of a hassle to pass emissions control.
