Power Window Problem

Hey guys I got a problem:


I have a Gen3 camry and i've been having problems with my passenger window. I can lower it and when i put it back up it doesn't close right. Some parts of the glass sticks out, leaving a gap. I have to push it back in by hand. It's getting annoying!


Any suggestions on DIY? or do i have to go to a mechanic? How much would that cost?

you can open up the door panel and see what's what, 2 screws on bottom, two pins to push inwards on the latch side, 2 covered screws on hinge side below the air hole, 1 behind the red filter (92-93), 1 covered screw above the map box, and 3 on the armrest. pull/pry on the bottom only--- then lift it up before pulling it out.

could be a missing bolt on the regulator.

POWER WINDOW ADVICE: SAVE THE MOTOR!!!

The window attaches to the regulator assembly($300oem), the regulator assembly consists of the a contraption of loops and rails called the regulator ($50oem), and an electric motor ($250). you can unscrew the motor from the regulator if the motor is still good and then attach it to a new oem regulator,

life of an aftermarket regulator assembly ($150): 3-4 years, oem: 10 years

Sounds like the regulator needs to be adjusted or tightened.

I have the same problem. I opened up my door and took a look at it. This happens because when the window reaches a certain point it slips on the track which it is on. The only thing I didn't try was adjusting the glass itself. Don't know if adjusting the glass would work or if this is somehting that just comes with parts getting worn.

i have a 1996 toyota camery and installed a new power window regulator it worked but then when we put panel back on wont go down can hear motor click tried to loosen bolts and still no work

I have the same problem as the original poster on my 1997... I haven't opened the door up yet, but will let you know what I find.

Hi, did you replaced the motor too or just the regulator? My camry 1996, LE, 4 cyl, had a driver side window problem for quite sometime. I was thinking to just replace a regulator. A friend advised to replace the regulator and the motor as the same time because he said if the track and gear of the regulator are worn out, so is the motor. I took the advice and got an OEM regulator with motor online for $48. I replaced the parts. My window works great. Remember to test the regulator & motor assembly to see the glider go up and down the guide track by plugging it to the power supply before replacing it.
