Costco or Sams Club sells cases of Mobil 1 for $24-25. Get you filters from Toyota or get quality filters. A good filter makes all the difference.
If you're changing the filter with each oil change, what brand do people recommend?

I use Valvoline SynPower, and I recently found the Fram X2 Oil Filters, which claim to last for 7K miles instead of the usual 3.5K. I have yet to install the filter, and I don't know how well it works. You can try eBay to get cheaper oil filters - someone is selling a box of 12 Toyota filters for the Gen 5's for around $40 or so, but I don't know how much one costs at the dealer. You might as well go to a brick and mortar store for oil since you'll be paying shipping for some fairly heavy stuff.
what is the point of the fram x2 filters that last 7k miles if the oil doesnt?. (wel aleast i havent heard of a 7k oil).. i use bosch or mobile 1... there is a k&n but havent tried it... bosch usualy $5, mobile $ 11, k&n 13
Well, I think most synthetics can last at least 7k miles. The best synthetic, Amsoil, lasts 25k miles, so you actually need to somehow change the oil filter between oil changes. It's $6 a quart, but lasts much longer.
i would stick with the regualr interval and oil or filter change .... stick with regular to synthetic and 3k filter ..... i quess they have not made any filter that last the same as oil or vice versa....
Wal Mart sells 5 quart Mobil 1 synthetic for $20. I don't know about shipping petroleum products though. If you could ship petroleum products, the weight tack on enough shipping costs to negate any money you do save.
Good oil filters:
Mobil 1 $10
K&N $10
Purolator Pure One $5
OEM Toyota ~$???
The label on the hood of my Camry says to change at 3750 but I still change at 3000 miles because I use my car for work purposes.
I'm doing 7500 mile oil changes with 2500 mile filter changes. I'm using Mobile1 and Toyota filters.
Now that's interesting. I just might try that.
