Question Honda S2000 Start Button-Anyone done this?

I'm really interested in installing a genuine Honda S2000 starter button in my Gen 4.5 camry. There was only a few posts about this that I could find, so has anyone done this?

Where is a good place to put it, if I want to keep my cigarette lighter socket free? I was thinking about the area to the left of the steering wheel, left of the dimmer switch for the tachs (there are like 3 slots that are, in my car, has nothing). I think it would look good there.

Also, I have a remote starter in my car. How will this s2000 start button affect it? Can I use either one to start the car? I'm assuming if i use the remote starter, then i'd start the car normally, or if I use the s2000 button, then i put the key in, turn to position 1, and then push the button to start.

I found an entire kit (genuine S2000 starter button, all the wiring, and the relay that's needed) on ebay for $60. is that a good price? doesn't seem bad, considering the OEM starter button from honda is about $40-45.

I'll ask you the same thing I asked the guy at the dealership when we went to buy ours (my family), Why the fuck would you need it? Your key does both the power and the ignition! Multi-task! Don't make things more work.

There is no real point besides looks. And it doesn't look that cool to have another button on your dash.

(Plus, yours won't have the safety setup the S2000 has, so someone could break into your car, pop the button of and have your car running in seconds.)

thanks for your opinion, but if you read my post, I wasn't really asking if you guys thought it'd be cool. I was asking more about who has done it, and where did they put it, and if it'll interfere w/ my remote starter. Plus, you said who needs it? Well, on a S2000, they have to still put the key in, turn it to the first position, and then push the start button. And I think it's sweet on the S2000...that's why I want it.

And another button on the dash?? on the left side of the steering wheel, there are hardly any buttons on my car, except that dimmer switch i mentioned. it probably can use 1 more button there.

well, even w/o the start button, any thief that really wanted my car, can still do the same and have my car running within a few seconds.even w/ an alarm, no car is really that safe.

hey dna59, thanks for that link.

I agree it is kinda pointless. BUT if you could wire it so as to bypass the ignition all together so all you need is the start button to start the car, NOW that would be better. You'd have to monkey with the security system so no one would be able to start the car without the key present.

This would mean you'd have to modify the security system so the start button won't work unless the key FOB is present. Then you could buy a spare key and cut the shaft off so all you'd need to carry is the FOB.

It would be cool but not easy. Don't ask me even where to begin on this project.

but if it'll interfere w/ my remote starter, then i won't get it. I'll talk to an audio shop and see what they think
