auto starter problem... maybe

well. i got a viper 160vx auto starter put into my car like a week ago by an authorized dealer. i have an 05' camry. it has about 4.5k miles on it. and when i first start it in the morning with the auto starter, it doesn't turn over. it only starts when i manually put the key in and turn it. and even when i do that, the engine doesn't sound healthy. kind of sounds like it is struggling to start. i asked my housemate and he says it might be the battery. because stock batteries suck or something. i'm not sure what to do. is the because of the auto starter? what do you guys think?

You may have a bad ground draining the battery. The starter won't work below a min voltage, which is lowest after draining all night. After getting charged back up from the drive, it starts to work again. If it started after the install, definitely take it back.

yes, if the auto-starter works fine after driving it, you have a bad ground or an open relay somewhere. You can probably test this by starting it and then shut it off right away (before it has a chance to charge up). You will get the same effect or, it may not start,****** so before you try this, make sure you can jump it with another vehicle if that happens*******.

Nobody said that it has to be removed. If it was the detector that drained the battery, then you don't have any problems with it. If it's the autostart that drained it, take the car back to have it checked out. It may be defective, or there might be a wire not properly insulated.
