Maybe it's possible, but I havent seen anyone do it. If yours has the clear/red panel you could try opening it to remove the red part...personally, I wouldn't do it.

Someone made a post about getting inside the center brake light and coloring it. Apparently its not a good thing to do because people either broke it or hard one hell of a time getting in it

what you do: open up the center panel and then simply remove the red film.

the issue is opening it.

even members here that have taken apart the tails have, to my knowledge, been for the majority unsuccessful (either b/c it got cracked and broken or tried to loosen in the oven and melted it)

if anyone has been successful, make sure to speak up!

There have been few who have successfully opened up their tail w/out cracking them and I would think the center panel would be no easier. Personally I wouldn't attempt it on my Cam, but if you happens to have a extra panel laying around then go right ahead and try.

A few have been able to do so fine, but most just either melt them or brake them.

yea...would u guys agree that this isn't one of those "first things to do" for the camry?

its more of a 4-4.5 out 5 in difficulty, i assume?

It's up there with trying to remove the interior door handle without breaking it.

I've tried quite a few times, and I still haven't been able to get it without breaking it.

I've opened up my tails about 3 times or so, and the first time was a bitch...do a search on my name and tail lights, you can read my complaints. I melted one in the oven by accident, and a bit of it cracked. As well, it's a bitch to open with a heat gun, takes a lot of patience. However, the end result was nice...check my website for pics.

As for the center panel, I attempted that as well...it was impossible, i dunno how that guy did it. I cracked the bottom of it, so I said forget it...he must have a pizza oven or something. I eventually just painted the back of it instead.

Did you paint your rear panel yourself?
