Exclamation WARNING: major oversteer with Whiteline sway bar...

...I just got out of class and was driving home, part of my trip is exiting a driveway that has a tight, banked, downhill S-turn. I usually drive it fast for fun. It was dry and had no sand/gravel on it.

I took it a bit faster (expecting the unexpected) and at about the time I reached the apex, the back end just did not step out, the whole back end of the car started trading places with the front - I was expecting something like this and was able to correct for it (counter steer and a little throttle, no big deal). Surge of adrenilin, but it was all - big thing was it was kinda unexpected and there was zero tire noise.

Just a warning if you have done this mod or are considering it - while the car handles better, this sort of thing is certainly NOT what I would expect out of a FWD familt sedan (thats what makes it cool!!!)

Tire pressure and temperature were all normal.

Oh, I will be playing with this some more and see if I can have some REAL fun

does this happen because the stock suspension allows the body to roll while the whiteline rsb eliminates [alot] of body roll so the car just slides?

do u think the same would happen on my gen3 1mz-fe?

That's your own fault.

That always happens with FWD cars with upgraded RSB's.... The cornering limit itself is raised, but once you get to 80% of that limit, anything upsetting will induce an un-recovorable spin.

Try drving a car with a rear stiff suspension and upgrading the rsb. The camry is easier to drive with it cause the stock suspension is still so soft.

No shit, driving on the freeway, or typing this post was my fault also.

Point is, it happened and I wanted to report it because I know other have this mod or plan on it, and it is better to know NOW rather than LATER. I have yet to find a good open parking lot to play in, so I haven't been able to 'play' with the car yet.

What got me was how quickly is happened (very little warning and it was more severe than I would expect)

Live and learn

It all good.

Tires also have a factor in that equation. Some tires feedback better and give way less violently. Also, remove as much weight as you can from anything backwards of the center of your rear wheel. If anything, that would be the most compelling reason for me to get a carbon fiber rear deck lid.
Too correct oversteer, it's important to steer into the skid while not panicking and getting off the gas and stomping brakes. Someone please give better detailed advice and newbies pay attention. Don't stomp on the gas either or you could really get crossed up. O/steer is the easiest way to lose control and have a huge disaster.

You act like massive oversteer is a problem...

You just need some practice

Heh heh SmokingTires, I have had some practice.
Expensive practice. I pulled a
I still recommend the swaybar as it really helps the handling even on the straights. To not do it is like wearing a poor choice of shoes so you won't be running as fast when you fall.

urrr... lol its not oversteer, its just more positive tyres determine the feedback from teh car, so if ya tyres are crap it wont tell you youre going to spin.
