I got these nasty ass water spots on my windows. There on the 4 car door windows, not the rear window or windshield. I've tried commercial window stripper/clean, and every auto window glass cleaner you can think of.
You guys have any ideas? Is this a problem for anyone else??
Thanks

Hmmm...maybe a razor....the last time I was at the local speed shop I had the guy take a look at them. He said they were old water spot, he then sold me this window stripper stuff which didn't do jack sh*t. They've been there since I got the car, 1 year.

I dunno about water spots on windows.. but my camry had some nasty spots on the roof and the trunk lid.. one of my dad's friends was a used car detailer.. he took them right out with some rubbing compound and a buffing wheel.. took them right out.. then washed the compound dust off and waxed that area with one coat.. it shines and no more waterspots now.. so if you ever have waterspots on the body of the car you know what to do.. be careful not to buff it to much with the compound or it will wear right through the paint...
i can ask him what he would do to get waterspots off windows for ya and let ya know soon though.. but i know he will say not to buff it out.. lol.. being a used car detailer i bet he encountered many-a waterspots on the windows of his used cars.. and i think he would have no problem giving advice on the tricks of his trade..

I encountered that guy today.. he said he has no clue... he wouldn't try using the rubbing compound for fear that it would scratch the window.. if i were you i would try the compound if nothing else and if it doesn't work replace the windows.. cause i don't see what else would work either.. if you don't wanna put in the effort.. just replace the windows or live with the marks.. no biggie to me.. only if it really bothers you enough to put up that kinda money.
sorry i couldn't do much for ya buddy.. hope you come to a good conclusion.

No, I don't have tinted windows. The spots are on the outside. I tried the razor, it kinda work but one slip and I'll end up with a nasty stratch in my window. The spots are liveable but noticeable. People only notice them during the day. The guys at the speed shop are baffled and gave me my money back for all the crap I bought. Nice guys though. They said the previous owner must have srayed or done something near the car. I also heard it might be sapp from trees. In either case more elbow grease and time will get them out. (hopefully)
BTW: Buying new windows is out of the question!
Thanks for all your help!

i went to Napa today.. the guy said to try WD-40 and wipe it off.. that should get them out unless the spots are too deep.
If they won't come out then the dealer i know said it could be acid rain. in which case there is nothing you can do. but i would try the WD-40 technique.

Maybe he's wondering why would you want to tint? Different people have different taste. For a long time I did not want my windows tinted but I finally had it done last month and I have become a fan of tinted windows. But customizing your car is all done according to how you want to build it for yourself, not for anyone else. Maybe he prefers the clean look of no tint.
