Well I guess I'll post for all to see. Seeing how nearly everyone on my AIM list has seen them by now!
For anyone that might not know, I have a
1993 Lexus ES 300
A/T
150lbs of audio & tools... More stuff to list than I care too.
Things to understand before making decisions:
- AS I HAVE ALWAYS MAINTAINED This IS a Gtech. Take the results or leave them... I don't pass them for real numbers, but compare them with myself.
- As you will see from the first, they can be potentially accurate when used within spec. At the very least, more accurate than anyone here has *ever* given them credit to be.
- AFA Jefferson County Waste Disposal is concerned my car weighs 3457lbs. That's with all my audio, myself, 1/4 tank of gas, and a toolb ox in the trunk.
- The county also madates just over a 1/4 mile of perfect grade road before a landfill (for whatever reason)
- I DO NOT strip my car... It's been stripped one time. That was to install my audio. THIS IS A LEXUS IT IS NOT my Honda Civic. (I will strip it if I go to a drag track)
This run was recovered from my GTech LoL! I forgot it was on there! Firmware was 3.0.XXX something from 2003.
The car was just over 12 years old and had around 100,000miles at this point. K&N filter + hole in the air box. EGR had never been cleaned out of the intake. It was virgin and slow.
Not that they're that accurate, but let's take that 10.539s 1/8 mile and plug it into a 1/4 mile formula. Pow! 16.43 Right above published 16.3s A/T 3vz-fe 1/4 mile times... (remember weight & egr)
So... Let's compare that to the infamous M/T 3vz-fe dyno of Henry's!!!
If you are inclined to believe (any V6, camry or otherwise that has cleaned their intake of EGR for the first time will) that 12 years of EGR will take 10hp, and the A/T is around 21% efficient stock, and that I roll a car that weighs 3457lbs, not 3250lbs will think the dyno is about in line with what the car drove like.
Here is the funny dyno I caught flack over last night!!! (Firmware has been upgraded to the newest 4.X giving me the cool new Road Racer mode for free!)
This is made at the same weight (actually I've lost a few lbs since then, but with more gas in the car)
The major power mod being my DIY Port & Polish.
My SMT-6 IS NOT tuning Ignition, or fuel yet!!! It IS still activating my ACIS at 3000 or 3200rpm, but that is under the scope of my gtech.
Forget this graph, let me say why.
1) My timing belt was 1 tooth off
2) My distributor was out of adjustment
Now... It looks funny because at that particular time, I passed a cop doing 35 in a 15mph zone so I quickly hit my breaks (with the foot on the gas in case) I saw his lights, and turn signal come on so I FLOORD IT and got away (i was like within 5m of my house, fuck it) Yes I got away... Yes I'm glad I didn't stop LoL! No... I went up a big hill doing 85mph by the time he got turned around and never saw his lights after that.
(I just thought I would include this 'cause I think it is a riot!)
So! In between some stuff today, I had time to fix the timing belt(wtf is it with me, this car, and timing belts!?) and adjust the distributor without a timing light. It's probably within 1-3* of being correct... Runs fine, doesn't ping, not too laggy.
Here are 3 runs from tonight!
In order of good-bad, with last nights as a fourth. 1/4 - 14.951s ET
White is me smoking an Altima (Big win, but not really bad i4 altima's are quick) 1/4 - 14.951s ET
Red there isn't much to say... I dominated an older (early 90s?) Integra. 1/4 - 15.273s ET
Green was just me playing around. 1/4 - 15.663s ET
Now! Two things I would like to be noted... If *anything* a gtech can at least measure 60ft and 0-60mph times...
It's fucking OBVIOUS I can't drive this car yet and it's an A/T! I have been taken *totally* by surprise. The wheel spin by both power breaking, and stabbing the throttle is tremendous (3vz-fe torque baby!) A 2.5+ second 60ft time running just over a 6s 0-60? That's insane! I have *got* to try rolling on the throttle, with better tires in the future!
I'm hoping for another 10-15hp(crank) whenever I can tune the SMT-6...
Ultra mad call out to my home boy
Sean McElligott (MCE). Thanks for the support man! Couldn't have done it without ya! Also, his 1992 ES 300 M/T has been turboed and RUNNING for weeks, but can now *safely* run up and down the street slowly! (work and real life suck bro!) Tearing all the stang/wrx and supra friends you have! OK... So maybe you'll only be able to beat the WRX! Still, great company to be in! (The new Hoosiers's look nice)
Lauren for the cute stuff
John & Josh for pushing me hard to it hard to get done
and anyone in Australia b/c... well yall didn't do anything, but that's a great place to be if you want something tuned! More power to yall!
