My car alarm (retro-fitted in a gen 3 camry) has stopped chirping. I'd like to have a look, but I dont know where it is located - other than "somewhere under or behind the dashboard". Where's the best place to look to get started on finding the thing? BTW the company (Autoguard) has gone belly up .

Their usually stashed behind the drivers side dash.

Look for a box with about a dozen wires coming out of it.

are they not under your passenger side seat?

that's where mine is, if im not mistaken

^ Aftermarket alarms are usually stashed behind the drivers side dash. But it all depends on where the installer puts it.

The only thing I can say is look around for it.

ive known alarms to be behind the glove compartment.

All the alarms I've seen which are aftermarket are behind the driver's dash.

I believe it is somewhere near the driver's side dashboard - do I have to remove the dash?

I don't think so. Just peep in from under the dash, to see if you can see it.
