When I'm driving less than 40mph, I can hear some kind of whistling or squeaking from the brakes. But it seems like when I drive faster than 40mph, the sound won't occur as much.
The sound goes away when I step on the brakes though.
The rear rotors and pads were only put on back in October.
The front rotors are less than two years old and the front pads were just changed 2 weeks ago.
I had this problem with my brakes when I changed them, but after a while it went away.
I was kind of hoping that it would go away but it hasn't!
I went to the bank the other day. I used the teller window right up against the building. As I was pulling out of the lane, I was driving against the building and the sound was really bouncing back. I just hope nothing is wrong.
Replace the rubber hoses that go to the calipers and rebleed the brakes. Bring it back to the brake shop.., many of those places actually warrant the brake work they do. If they know anything about brakes, they should be able to determine what the problem is.

I'll check the hoses and see how they look. I'll bleed the brakes as well. I did it myself so there is no one to blame but me.
If the noise youre refering to is more of a light metal "tinging" noise at slower speeds it's the castle cover and cotter pin on the axle nut. they are always loose and its nothing to worry about.
I just put drilled\slotted rotors and new pads on my mr2, and it is doing the same thing... a slight grinding noise at low speeds, kind of sounds like the brakes are being applied lightly... I'll just bleed the brakes again, and hope that fixes it.
The only other thing is to completely tear it back apart and see where the extra scraping is coming from, just think about what the noise is and pinpoint it, typically it is simple to duplicate it with the tire off and just spinning the hub with your hand. Sometimes you can get a helper, if they are not so stupid, like the wife, she might try and throw it in gear and run over you, you just never know right?, anyways you spin the hub and they hit the brake, sometimes the brake system needs to be pressurized to duplicate the problem. With your head stuck down by the wheel you can usually get an eye on the noise. With a close inspection under light you can usually tell where the extra rubbing is coming from, for the most part.

That makes too much sense! The sound appears to be coming from the rear wheels. When I rotated the tires along with the brake change a few weeks ago, the rear wheels were kind of stuck on. I had to place a piece of wood on the inside and used a mallet to hit the wood so I could loosen the tire. Of course, I didn't have much clearance and hit the plate a few times.
It's raining and cold today so I'll try the backing plate when it gets warmer.
