What to put into washer tank?

Just wanted to know what people put in there washer tanks for a good clean windshield.
I was thinking of detergent, but i've seen other cars with that and it tend to streak.
Thought about methylated spirits also.

Also..does anyone know the tank capacity? It's not in my manual.

Thanx.

Cool

Hose water. If it's lucky, I use a rain-x.

Cool

Yeah it'd work well at cleaning the windshields.
Unfortunately it'd eat your paint quickly, is highly costic, and known to cause all types of cancer.

My washer tank is laying in the driveway. I'll measure it for you sometime today or tomorrow (if noone else does it first)

When I had my tank in my car I usually used water and those washer fluids.

I just bought a couple of bottles of Rain-X washer fluid (orange stuff). It's also supposed to have some of the regular rain-x in there.

It cleans well on the window surface but I noticed that there seems to be more residue left on the glass that the wiper doesn't cover. It seems like whitish water spots but it doesnt stain. It also does not leave marks on the paint. It is different enough for me to say that not all washer fluids are the same. I will continue using.

its a little more then 1 gal of a goose neck type. I drained my out completely and drop 1 gal bottle of fluid and topped it off with a 10-16 oz bottle of water. It works. i'm going to run a 50/50 mix of fluid and water because i'm cheap like that.

Cool

In a gen1 ES 300 it holds 1.25 gallons.
I use rain-x glass cleaner (got a super concentrated 64oz bottle years ago) But it's ghetto stuff for real.

Made by Pennzoil-Quaker State

Chemical CAS No / Unique ID Percent
Surfactant(s) (unspecified) 000000-00-4 <10
Isopropyl alcohol 000067-63-0 <5
2-Butoxyethanol 000111-76-2 1-5
Water 007732-18-5 70-95

Which means that it uses rubbing alchohol to clean the glass, and the butoxyethanol leaves a "film" behind in an attmept to make it a perfectly flat surface. So it's nothing special.

Which also explains why Rain-X wills treak glass, if the glass is not cleaned enough.

You would do just as well mixing 1 gallon of tap water, with a $2 pint of rubbing alchohol. It's surely be a hell of a lot cheaper!
