For all the people who have problems with their alternator not beign strong enough, here is a site that offers racing application ones. They are not model specific, but will work once installed. Up to 150 Amps
They are all universal. So you have to mount them to fit. Most likely they will just bolt right on. Just you may have to modify the arm holding the alternator just a little to get it to line up perfectly.

kinda noobish question, but what wud be some advantages of a stronger alternator in a racing application? i cant figure it out....just off the top of my head i guess it wud benefit a person with an insane sound system, but performance wise? can somebody enlighten me?

Well, for our cars, the power is really weak when it is at idle (Gen 3, the lights fade when RPMS drop). The more power your running, the strong spark you need. And on race applications (i.e. 500hp, onboard computer, timing equipment (if your running rally)) would drain your power quick. So upgrading would provide the power you need.

If you're racing the engine won't be on idle would it?
I thought upgrading alternator is an audio thing not a racing thing???
it's obvious. the alternators are designed for high-rpm conditions (racing) so they won't wear out as quickly in these conditions and have free-er spinning bearings to cut down drivetrain loss. (it even says it in some of the descriptions and seems rather logical)
I would probably recommend this...it is made to fit the car, about the same price, and 170 amp. Powermaster is also a company I've heard of and I know makes good products. Just an idea...

Don't we have internal regulators in our alternators? The one from Summit doesn't have an internal regulator. Would this be a problem? and how do you fix it?
the easiest way is to find a Highlander 130A alt. and drop it right in (dunno if it only works with 1MZ-FE)...
i also searched for "High Output Alternator" and came up with a site that sells HO alts and smaller pulleys for stock alts that are pretty cheap (but u'd also need a new, smaller belt)
