Red face Is this a good intake?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MakeTrack=true

Has anyone bought this before for their gen 3 v6 3.0 cam?

Sorry for posting about an intake question, I've done searches and didnt come up with anything. This seems to be very cheap price wise, just curious if anyone has it and any ideas on gains. I'm not really expecting gains, just curious if it will actually hurt the performance of the 1mz.

I read on the free mod post that the stock airbox is a cai already, except it sucks in warm air? Correct? So wouldnt a short ram, ebay ad^, hurt the performance?

Please let me know.

Thank you in advance.

You get what you paid for. Just something to keep in mind.

I looked at that one...decided against it...The Free mod you are talking about doesn't suck in hot air....if you read the whole post it explains it

FYI, AEM has a reliable and smog legal intake for your car.

I've searched on AEM, INJEN, and dragon intakes.

Those are all cost too much just for an intake that doesn't really have much gains.

i have a short-ram intake on my 5sfe... all i can say is... if you live some place where its 90 degrees outside like here in grants pass during the summer, dont buy an intake, put a k&n air filter inside the air box.

Uhm, then why bother getting an intake in the first place?

inless you can get a good air box that blocks most of the engine heat from getting in there and most of which the only air getting into it is from where the stock intake brought air in and in between the battery. Or make one like i did... see, my engine doesnt bog down anymore, only thing i have to worry about his my little plastic garbage can thingy and foam thing against the hood doesnt fall appart.... eh... all that work for 2-3 horse power? ... i guess you buy them for the sound...

Don't mean to hijack this thread but it's along the same lines so I figured i'd ask here rather than make a new thread:

Which intake do you suggest for a 1995 I4? Not tryin to go the CAI route right now. Just something besides stock. Did a search didn't find what I want.

^ those will all do exactly the same thing - just remember that you're basically buying it for the sound, not the performance...for looks go with the cosmo i guess

go with the cheapest one, i got the one thats in the 2nd link... and if i was you also, go buy a k&n air filter seperatly that will fit it. cause they include a cheap APC air filter, and its not that great.

Be sure to make a heatshield for it like mine...

Best 5$ i ever spent.. my engine doesnt bog down like it did when i didnt have it... just dont show it off to too many people.. and true, its mainly for sound, but i do feel more torque in between 3000 and 4500rpms.

Yeah, the second link you posted is the one I have in my car. I can tell you it WILL change the sound drastically. It has a nice mean vroom to it, something you didn't expect can come out of that 5S-FE. About performance, i'm not sure is it just psychological, but I do notice that my engine revs up quicker than before. There seems to be some power gains in the higher end, above 4K RPM.

I've noticed a difference in my engine as well. It definitly does rev quicker than normal. I've also noticed a bit of boost in my gas mileage which was a nice surprise, and a welcomed one. I've also noticed a bit more pick up in the mid rpms...

The heat shield is to prevent hot air going into the intake.
