Removing Header

Hey guys,

I'm trying to remove my header. I got the the nuts off the manifold already. I'm trying to remove downpipe from the header but it seems impossible. Do you guys have any tips or suggestions

i haven't gotten that far yet. i'm supposed to get the headers installation done at a shop tonight. i'll give u a heads up if i run into your problem. most likely there's another bolt you can't see.

take em off from under the car.. get ya ride on a lift and some loooooong ratchet hand tools.

first of all, whenever asking for tech help on here... say any info that is important... in this case we need to know wht engine.

aside from that, we can assume you have a 4 cylinder (most common) and tell you that all you have to do is get the nuts off and then slip it off... for the "downpipe" as you like to call it,(i dont like saying downpipe unless it is a real DOWNPIPE on a TURBO car) you must pull the whole thing backwards and down i believe. once you get the nuts off, there is nothing holding it... so it shouldnt be as hard as you are making it. if it REALLY is that hard, take it to a mechanic, cause you are not capable of doing this.

It is the 4 cyl. engine. He was part of the Ripp Mods header group buy.

Those bolts that are attached to the headers are a real pain to take off. I know this may sound like im crazy but . . . I had to remove the bolts that held the cat on, pull the headers out, lift the entire assembly up and then loosen those bolts. Another set of hands also helped out tremendously. But, like others have stated, take it to a sho if you dont know what your doing

Yeah it is a pain. My air guns can't even break it lose. I wanted to remove it easily piece by piece but I guess i'll juss pull the header out first.
