When the change struts? 47K+?

Hi,

I have 02 Camry 4 cyl. I drive my car moderately and always watched out for bumps etc. Never overloaded the car etc. However, I am starting to feel I should change my struts and springs because it (? appears?) to me that they are letting me feel to much of each bump.

When do you change (typically) struts on 02 Camries or Camries in general? 50k, 100k, never?

You change them when you notice oil on the strut bodies and it's making groaning noises or when you feel you need a better handling car.

You need shocks typically when you may get cupping of the thread on the tires. You may notice that when you are coming off a bump at speed it may become real hard to steer in a straight line. It also may wallow in corners. When you push down on it hard, the car bounces a couple of times. Get the idea?

there is no definite answer for sure. it really depends on factors like road conditions and stuff. but i would say that 47k is a bit low for struts. i have never changed struts that were less than 90-100k old.

just my $.02

yea, struts typically last a long time unless you're just wrecking havoc on speed bumps
