3rd Generation Sterring and brake failure relation?

I just had a full brake job done on my front brakes like a week ago and a full service about a month ago. I was on the road this evening moving fro mthe middle lane to the right lane and both my brake and sterring lost power and I ended up hitting the median. Both my airbags deployed. Is it possible that the dealer who worked on it did soemthing inncorrectly and caused this brief malfunction? How much am I looking at just at repair cost?

Sounds more like you hit a patch of ice or something. You'll have to get it checked out to see if there was any problems with the steering or brakes before the accident, but it'll be hard to tell if the damage is extensive. The cost of repairs depends on what needs to be replaced.

3rd Generation

Dealer didn't find anything wrong with the brakes or sterring. They will drive it around and see if they can duplicate the senerio I was in. This is really *%#&ed up.

power relay of some sort?

wouldn't think that a brake job would affect the power of either your steering or your brakes...unless you lost pressure in your brake lines somehow....

Dealer didnt find anything wrong so crap on him. They drove it around and tested every possible senerio to make it happen again. The good news is Im gonna get the airbags for under 250 off ebay ...now its just getting the other body work done...

Cool

Double posting is a violation of forum rules.

To reiderate myself, I your engine died and you didn't know it. The only way to loose braking is to loose the vacuum assist. Power steering doesn't go out when the power steering pump is turning.

Unless you fit a cow under your car that waved a magic wand to break the P/S belt/drain the fluid, and drain the brake fluid All at the same time...

Your engine quit.

^ I was thinking that too. The only scenario where both power assisted systems would not work was if the engine was not running.
