ive noticed since i put my pod filter in for ram air that my car is running hot.... not overheating but hotter than usual- i can feel the heat on my feet when im driving. I have flushed the radiator what else could i do to minimise the heat?
options i have incllude -
1. using 5 inch pipe to make CAI (having trouble finding the time)
2. slipping a couple off washers under the mounts for the bonnet
3. using windscreen sprays on the radiator (my buddie used this on his intercooler)
any other ideas?
can my filter go in fron of the radiator? will it suck water or is it reasonably safe?

***MOD: Signature violation. Size is too big. Keep it under 500x150 pixels.***
When ya lift the back of the bonnet...can't u just remove the rubber seal that goes there instead of using washers to lift it off the seal? That would create an air-gap and not make the bonnet out of line with the fenders.

yeh apparenly you can, best to ride with your windows down though, apparently engine fumes get in the cab. i think you can jack it up a little without wrecking the looks check the link below
I did it more than a year ago.
No rust in my engine bay, no fumes in the car... Admittantly I have pair of air filters. On my cabin (blower) and in the air flilter slot for outside air so... Not like I'd smell it anyways.
Shimming the hood with 2 washers is fine. As much tighter as this ES panels are to anything, not an LS 400 I've ever seen, it actually looked better when I added a pair of washers to jack it up a tiny bit.
Now if I just wouldn't have let the hood drop on a tool and warp it a few months back!!!

Err, have you checked your plugs lately? Sounds like you are running way lean. Prime sign is overheating. You should check before you have a one piece engine.
i put a pod in my car (cen 2), so did my mate and neither of us has noticed hotter running temperatures. so get your plugs checked as amerikim suggested. i'll be putting a cai soon enuff (dodgy backyard job). mite give the washers a try though.
anyone care to post a pic of where we r to add these washers?
removing the seal sounds like a good idea. maybe I'll try it soon. I don't think the fumes will be much of an issue, as your exhaust itself generally doesn't produce any fumes in the direction of the engine-bay.
if you have any funky smells, you likely have a leak to begin with.
further more, if you notice, you can recirculate air within the car or get fresh air from the outside. if you're nervous of this, just have it recirculate air.
yeah i agree with the others in that it sounds like you got another problem going on. but after you figure it out throw some redline waterwetter in the radiator to bring the temps down a bit. supra guys love this stuff!!!
without those filters and shit, how could i prevent the gas from getting in?
You have slots for the filters. That and the fumes would not get in. (there are no fumes... It *should* be a sealed engine ) You shouldn't be able to detect any oder when you open the hood.
The majority of the airflow in a Camry (IDK which model) is designed to enter the nose, and be expelled at the BOTTOM REAR of the engine bay. The vast majority will exit there when the car is in motion.
