camry curse: The guy who tinted my car broke my amplifier!!!
So I took my car back to the guy that did my tint job(for $250...too much) and had him redo the back. He told me to remove the rear deck before I brought it in, so I did.
Well today I go to play my woofers and my amplifier is on the fritz... I take it to my car audio guys and they test it and tell me it's because liquid has shorted the amp. We look on top and there is crusty tint solution all over it.
So I call the guy who tinted my car and argue with him for 5 minutes and he finally breaks down and is going to reimburse me 50% of the cost of the amplifier...
My car audio guys are going to try and clean it up and send it back to the manufacturer under warranty to see if they can fix it... probably won't though...
I think this may be my runnin with the camry curse, albeit I didn't hit a tree or whatever... this is causing much agony...(you would know what I am talking about if you read my tint thread)
Damn that sux ass. When I went to tint my car the guys that did it got the damn tint liquid all over my car. These are the reasons why I wanna do everything myself. Here in Belize no one seems to have respect for your car when they work on it, thats why I try to do as much work as I can myself on my car.
It's pretty hard to tint a car without getting at least the door panel wet. But I keep getting convinced that the guy that tinted your car is just sloppy.

man, you just got all sorts of screwed getting your tints done. payed WAY too much, he did a shitty job, gives no warranty, and screws up your amp.
He fucked up your amp, so why isnt he reimbursing 100% of the cost? you're getting walked on dude, you can let that fly, call the Better Buisness Buereu or something man.

dude, you just basically brought him a bottle of KY and bent over.
the fact that he is giving you anything for the amp means that he is omitting his guilt!
and karma!
well, i guess since you didnt get a receipt for anything, you cant do shit because you cant even prove he did the work...but oh well, you got screwed hard.

Yeah, it's my fault for actually having him do the job.
Hmm, I would call the BBB. It's about ethics, might as well have that. If he didn't give you a receipt means he is cheating on something like taxes, he ripped ya and the rest of the State. Sometimes you just have to deal with the shit.
What do you really have to lose?
Karma is you looking through those tinted windows everyday and remembering what it really cost you. Even if you get nothing out of it, at least you know you tried.
Word-of-mouth can be your best advertising tool; or your worst nightmare if you do a crappy job. If anyone asks about the place, tell them what happened. If they're smart, they'll really think it over and in the long run, that'll put a dent in his business. You might want to think about contacting the BBB too. Refusing to give you a receipt....that just sounds too shady
