I was just normally through a lewelling near bay fair mall when I noticed a CHP behind me. I'm going 25 mph and just being with it. Next thing I know the lights come on. The cop comes out and says I have a modified exhaust system its loud and whatever. I then say do you have a decimeter? He was like no you gotta go to the State Ref to get it certified. My question is what do you guys when this happens? Cause I'm not sure if I can go to the state with a full exhaust done with headers and a cai, which the headers are welded on. The code is 27151 VC this is in Hayward, CA.
, thats why your not suppose to get pulled over...best guess is if you go to the state ref. you wont pass at all. and your probly have to take all your stuff off. best thing to do is take it all off then go to the state ref
Or do what I did when I got that ticket and fight it.
I won with a titanium exhaust with NO SILENCER.
How? Well, the court fucked up. lol But what you have to do is probably take everything off, go to a SOUND REF (different from a smog ref) and get it check out it. I think it costs around $10. But yeah, CHP are dicks about that kinda stuff.

did you keep your stock stuff? throw it back on, and swap tips, so it looks like the same setup you were runnin when you got pulled over, and pass the test, then run your exhaust with the stock tips, so you look legal.
Well I'm guessing its only gonna be the sound ref. Testing for sound only, cause the CHP said my exhaust was too loud. So I'll try to put a silencer on and bring it to the sound state ref and get it tested. Hopefully it'll past, but I dunno. Thanks for all the help guys. BTW I have a Apex N1.

Great minds think alike, that's what I was going to say

for some reason i was under the impression that a cop needed to run a decimeter test prior to writing a citation for excessive noise...
Not anymore.

That's about it, really burns you when you're getting your ticket and a Harley, chopper or a 18 wheeler goes by.

man, california laws really blow. you almost never get pulled over in tx for an exhaust, shoot, there are a lot of trucks around here that are loud as HELL, keep setting off my alarm that i had to adjust the sensitivity to a minimal
The fuck up thing is I was going the speed limit! At 2,000 RPM at most and I guess he was like oh a racer with a muffler. Let's get him for at least an modified exhaust system. Damn man this really sucks, I just called the state ref too. They were like we're gonna inspect it solely on your exhaust. So yeah I guess I gotta chop off my apexi and put on a stock muffler. Cause if I just go and get a silencer they might be curious about popping the hood and looking at my headers which is worse than the muffler itself. So hopefully I'll be able to get away with it, I dunno yet.
