fixed my auto starter

well if you guys remember me, i have an 05 camry and i have a viper auto starter. and it had trouble starting in the morning. and i finally brought it back to the authorized dealer where i got it installed. they said they would increase the crank timer. but instead, they said they put in a tag program or something like that. do you know what that is? he said that it will make it crank till it starts basically. i dunno. is he bs'ing me? i hope its fixed.

I don't think that's really a good thing either...

crank until it starts? maybe there's something else wrong that won't let it start....
adjusting the crank time should be the only change that can still be deemed "safe" though that too can be a bad thing if you have to crank REALLY long to get a car started....

BS! Bypassing that safety device could fry your starter. No authorized installer with half a brain cell would do this.

I thought you said your problem was that it wouldn't turn over at all. WTF? We can't help you, if we aren't clear on what is going on with it.

it would turn over when sometimes. once in a while when its really cold, it wouldn't start with my auto starter. i would have to start it manually. and when i start it manually, it would sound really weak. that was basically the problem.

so you're saying that that tag problem is a safety device and they bypassed it? hrmmmmm.

yes, so it seems....

and it also seems like ALL you have to do to make your starter work is change the crank time when it gets cold...it's the same with my car, and my dad's car come winter

i see. i wouldn't mind changing the crank time as long as it doesn't mess up my engine. and what is a tag program exactly and what does it do?

That sounds like what every standard system has. It runs the starter until the car turns over, then it stops running it. It helps for cars that don't have instant start up when you turn the key. That's the same thing mine has in it.

It's not BS, it's what it's made to do.
