Hi guys,

I have a friend with a 92 camry LE that has a transmisison problem.
It's having trouble shifting down...

Can any one of you recommend a good shop to have a transmission work done?

Any recommendation/advice would be appreciated!

It's good to see Toronto Camry owners are still quite active here and offering lots of help. Really appreciate it! (I remember TN gave alot of help when I used own a camry)

how are his rates and does he use OEM parts?

rates are about 2/3 of dealership, and you can either request oem parts or not

he used to be a head mechanic at don valley toyota

a little late in the game here...but did a search and lead me here.
was wondering what kind of work Basil from T-Lex does. regular maintenace or everything, from electrical to engine?

also, any recommendations on which toyota service dept is good? i am at scarborough lexus and not really happy with them.

Try to use private and pay cash to save money, instead of paying them 80/h + parts.

erin mills toyota I've liked, especially their parts counter, but that's kind of far for you

and basil does just about all work, including simple engine swaps if he has the time, tho he's stopped installing blowers after phi's.....but for real, if you know him, you can convince him of just about anything really...

and he's willing to do the labor in cash, but not parts

was wondering...there is a new one close to vaughn mills. pretty large toyota dealer...anyone have any good experiences with their service dept yet?

and also the Markville Toyota, anyone deal with them>

I take the Camry in for general repairs/maintenance. Give Basil at T-Lex a call 905-415-3384 and talk to him. I used to go to Pickering Toyota but they tried to gouge me on a brake job by well over $300 and Basil did a better job for $100's less.
