Anything is possible if you have the money..

You'll PROBABLY have to go with a stand along engine managment.

its approx 120-130kw or so, not much torque.. revs quite freely to 9k rpm... god made 3s-gte's for a reason

im sure its possible, with the right amount of $$$.

here is what i know about 4age's:

4age blue hat(84-86): 112hp and less torque
4age red hat (87-89): same specs but a stronger block
4agze supercharged(88-89): 145hp but good amount of torque
these would be the most cost effective options since the 20v 4age your talking about it so rare. the great thing about these litlle engines is that they are tried and true reliable and the willingness to rev at 7000+ rpm.

this is all from my memory so some #'s may be slightly off. however i owned an 87 mr2 with a 4age and that car always made me smile. i think it would be a rather cool conversion(maybe more $$$ than its worth but cool anyway)

check out www.mr2.com for boatloads of info on the mr2 and 4age info. personally if i were you and was definetly gonna do this i would go with the 4age supercharged. there is a aftermarket pulley you can get that adds 10hp. and decent amounts of aftermarket support.

have fun!!

so it is possible to do the swap. But i dont think my budget would allow me to go through with sometin like that, i was thinking more of a 97 rolla for that swap, might be much easier than a camry.

im guessing you have a 3sfe so a 3sgte should bolt up, but you will need to rewire the harness etc. how rare are 3sgte's over there... in australia you trip over them walking down the street (well, not really, but go to any shop and they can get you 1 or 100 easy).

It is concievable that you can swap a 20V into your Camry, but along with it youll need the tranny and probably custom axles, hubs, and mounts for it all. The engine wont simply "plug and play" with your current drivetrain. Dont forget that the 4AGE needs to somehow be wired to work in your car (ie custom wiring harness). Honestly dude, I dont want to crush your hopes or anything but for a reputable shop to do this kind of fabrication for you... Youre looking at probably over 10Gs in parts and labor. If you do it though, youll be the only one ever, which is tight.

Allen, did you forget about the AE92-AE111? Those came with a 4ag into those too and they're FWD.

IMO, it wouldn't be worth it. Too little torque for the Camry.
Once you'd get it rolling, it'd be cool, but to get it to roll would be a bitch.

This is one of the reasons why I'm content with doing a 5S-FE build. It has good torque to be a base 4cyl NA engine for a Camry.
A 3sge (bitch to swap) in its best generation has as much tq as the 5S-FE but gets it much higher in the revs. Not something you want with a heavier car.

That makes sense now. I was confused. It would be pretty cool to see that though.

there are so many incarnations of the 4AGE itself, such as the large port, small port, 7 rib etc. just within the blue & red top versions we saw here in the US. and the hp & torque varies slightly between all of them. there are websites with all of them listed, all you have to do is google for them.

and the aftermarket pulleys add more than 10hp...it just depends how much you want to boost on the 4AGZE.

a 4AGZE could be built to have over 200 hp but you can swap in a 1MZ-FE with much less cost & custom fabrication then get the TRD S/C, do some other mods and make that 200hp mark.

but yeah like UFOz said, it would be cool to do it just to do it if you got enough time & money etc.

just my 3 pennies on it

If not a 3SGTE option, then you might fare better with either a JDM 3SFE or 3SGE in your Camry.

i really doubt it would be a worthwile endevour. 4AGE's dont have the torque to pull the big ass of a camry around. a 3SGE would be a much better and simpler choice, not to mention cheaper.

i think its a waste of money because of the camrys weight...the 4age is just not powerful enough for it and i doubt youll be any faster (maybe slower)

use your money wisely, spend it on a 3sgte
