Got it done a Brullen for those of you who don't know.
Basically, Richard used 2.5" piping, upgraded from the stock 2.25:|" piping. I got the single muffler with dual 3" tips...I was about to go 3.5" tips but then changed my mind when I was at home...way too big for dual tips.
Anyway, Dickson did a couple of fly-bys for me in front of Brullen, it sounds pretty good. Very deep sound and it resonates mainly in the 2000 to 3500 rpm range. Over that, I hear mainly my intake. At idle, you can barely hear it which is good. However , it's a lot louder than what I expected...I'm assuming it's because it's on a V6 and an auto. I don't feel like I lost any low end torque and I haven't really gone WOT yet either...not sure of any gains.
Now, the bad part. It's pretty loud and irritating in the cabin. I actually have a slight headache after driving to work for 45 minutes. Because I cruise around the 2k to 3.5k rpm range, there's a slight buzzing which is annoying. Annoying enough that I have to do something about it, this is what I'm thinking:
1. Install another resonator. There's enough room for this and Richard says it won't rob much, if any, power. The increase in the piping should accomodate this change.
2. Get the quiet performance muffler. I'm pretty sick of the buzz already, I'm ready to switch it to a non-straight through one.
3. Sell the system and put my stock back on. Anybody want to buy it?
I think I'm opting for option 1 but he can't do it until next week. I don't think I'm going to last this week, it's realy that annoying for me. Ideally, I would have wanted the roar of the exhaust to hit ABOVE 3.5k rpm, ie. only when you push the throttle down hard.
Oh, Dickson and I had a race up to 70 km on Steeles...I was leading pretty much by about two feet or so, but Dickson did squeal his tires a little bit! I didn't hit the gas until I heard him launch because there was still traffic turning left and Dickson was on the phone... Not bad for my 10 year old 1992....
Nicely done Henry, as far as the race. Dickson still has a very solid and new car. Represent for us old skule guys! (relatively) haha
But as for the sound, I am very surprised that it is that annoying. You still didn't get to hear mine. I HATE sound, but this sounds amazing. I was further reinforced of that when some girls told me that they liked the sound!!! One of them is very conservative in terms of cars too! So I definetly trust Richard and his work.
I would like to hear your car. I think another resonator will do the trick and at the same time not rob any noticeable power either. I was thinking about taking mine out then I decided against it. The sound is perfect. Even a tiny bit more might be too much. I'll let you decide when you hear it.
Gimme a shout. You know my #.

Actually when I notice the car in front of us making a left turn I didn't slam my foot on the pedal until you start, so I pretty much did a rolling start there. We have very similar shifting points and I was suprised that I didn't catch up after I heard your car shifted.
Henry is right, the muffler seems to be loudest between the 2000-3000rpm range. But overall it's not loud like an Integra driving by or anything like that.
Its nice to see you guys are getting nice exhausts i find that is one of the best performance and look mods available.I cant wait to see your exhaust in October.

I like the sound but it's just too loud for me on the highway...actually, I just went out for lunch and a co-worker (nice chick) freaked on me because I put one in! It's really too loud, I think it's because it's a V6...who knows.
Well, I have to live with it for the next week, maybe my opinion of it will change but my headaches won't! I think a small resonator should do the trick, I'd be happy even if the sound was TOTALLY suppressed. There's just too much sound at low RPM's = normal driving = me going to work.
Oh Anish, sorry for not calling you on Sunday...I totally forgot that I was getting the catback and that I needed to hear your exhaust....

Really? I didn't hit the gas until you did because I wasn't sure if you still wanted to race since you were on the phone. Anyway, it was pretty much neck in neck...maybe my ram air setup DOES work!
Long live the 92'! Ten years old coming this fall, not even 100,000 km yet!
Our V6 is a quieter engine so that's not the problem. Although with less restrictive pipes it could bring out its inner beast... who knows! I want to hear it too.
I don't get any annoying highway sound. When cruising or idling it sounds like stock with a very subtle deep bassy rumble (amazing for a 4cyl!!!). I thought you'd have it better, unless V6 just is not capable of sounding like that (like how we will never have the deep throaty bass of a good domestic V8)

Have you cruised at 115km on the highway? It's definitely a deep bass sound, that's why it gets in the cabin. It's a very nice sound but not good for daily driving...I need a another car!
I'll try to call you at work tomorrow, but I've been pretty busy...we're moving offices so I'm doing a lot of packing!
STOP!!!! Don't cut it off just yet!!!
mine was wicked loud for a week or 2. I have 2.25" pipe and dual 2.5" tips on a straight thru muffler. I was gonna make an in line baffel for it (kinda like a motorcycle)... did you keep the stock resonator? After a road trip to Chicago and back in 90 to 100deg F out door temp it was even louder kinda grunty and backfire-ish, I was a freak, so pissed I was about to go back to stock. After one or two more weeks tho there was enough carbon build up to quiet it down a lot. It now has a sweet Si-ish but more bassy sound. Almost stock sounding outside of the sweet spots. With the windows up you can only hear it hum between 3 and 5k.
Three reasons mine sounds the way it does, asuming our setups are almost identical... A. 2.25" pipe and 2.5" muff & tips. the wider the pipe the deeper and louder the sound. B. Resonated tips (rolled HKS style). they really DO make a difference over thin single walled tips. C. I made my resonator (and my cat when i get my headers) removeable for the track. Triangular bolt plates on both sides of the resonator for street and an equal length of straight pipe w/ matching bolt plates for track so I now can have my cake and eat it too with out freaking out the more conservative ladys!
Honestly there is no real noticable difference in performance w/ the resenator just sound.
L8s.

If you want to hear loud and anoying while doing long drives just come in my car. After 1 hour of driving the sound seem to get louder as the exhaust get hot. That is why i need some good dynamat to kill that sound or just get rid of this big monster pipe.
Thanks for the suggestion...I haven't installed another resonator yet, just haven't had the time. If it's still loud in a few weeks, I'm going to install another resonator.
I got a whole catback install, got rid of the stock resonator and Brullen put another one on. The piping is 2.5" and the tips are 3". I noticed that it does get louder sometimes, can't explain it. Don't like it, too loud for a Camry.
I probably won't change it until after the meet, so you guys can hear it then.
