4th Generation Changing bulbs 4 ashtray/climate controls/Ignition Ring

Hi, I have a 97 camry and I want to change color of most of my interior lighting. I have changed the shifter and the gauge, and it looked real good! And now I am on the the climate controls and the ignition ring, I seem to cant figure out how to get them out? I attempted pulling bottom of the ashtray, and now part of the cig lighter/ashtray is like sticking out by half of inch. Worst part is I cant get in back in... Anyone know how to tackle this? Thanks!

PS- I have tried the search, but I only find posts for the bulb numbers or steps for gauge. NOne for climate controls.

I posted this information before. For the climate controls: Take a small flathead screwdriver and pry the plastic surround at the left and right of the top and middle. Be sure to put masking tape around the tip to protect the plastic. Then pull the bottom. There are a few screws for the controls themselves as well as behind two of the switches. Disconnect the wire harnesses and you can pull it out. There are two 74 bulbs behind the switches. For the HVAC buttons there are three LED's, one of which is impossible to replace without breacking the switch housing (A/C on/off light). The other bulbs in the switches are tiny incandescents which could be replaced with 3mm LED's. Just try and play with it, it's the only way to learn.

I've replaced most everything except the A/C and defrost buttons. I will try the 3mm LED's in those later.
