EGR Block Off

Used the search...

I am looking for a writeup on how to blockoff your EGR and possible the PCV...

will this have adverse affects on my Camry?

it is a3VZ-FE

Pros and cons would be nice as well...but most were found in the search.

Tommy

cleaner intake track

poorer gas milage

leave the pcv and get a cloth fuel filter slipced in the line that should clean that out.

for removing the egr just find a metal plate to block up where the egr was and cap the vaccume lines, also there a temp sensor your going have to bypass ....

to bypass the temp sensor you need to use a 14.7k ohm reistor (i think search my old post for the exact reistor) and just use that to jump the 2 pins

Cool

Seafoam will clean EGR, but not on one application. It will take a full bottle or two to clean it a bunch.
Just take the intake manifold off.

Yes, You will not fail emessions & your engine will run hotter.
The good news is that you'll have more power off full throttle (when the EGR would normally be active), especially after a few months, when you're not totally clogged with carbon, and burning oil.

Don't block EITHER PCV line off... The PCV valve from the rear head, or the front head's 100% open breather line. *Especially* the rear head. Oil stagnates in rear head due to poor circulation.

Just take a fuel filter and put it on the PCV line for the rear head. The front head you can just put one of the tiny air filters on so it can breathe in & out. (Block the line on the intake side so it's not a big air leak)

So that it doesn't fill your intake plenum with crap, or because it's gummed up and causing a CEL.

91 (90) 5SFE??? Perhaps you mean 3SFE...
It's the same as above...find the pipe that runs from your exhaust manifold to your intake/egr system...block it off with a plate. Might wanna actually take the intake off tho..and clean it..otherwise youll get no benefit. coz its already dirty.

The temp sensor looks like a mini oxygen sensor on my car. You'll know you have one if you block it off and your CEL comes on

So is it better to remove the EGR or just clean it regularly? also does any one have a pic of the PCV set up mentioned above.

what do you use to clean the intake? I cleaned my EGR with carb clearner and it cleaned up really well but I still run the code. I plan on changing the pcv filter this weekend but I wouldn't mind cleaning the intake also.

No sensor. All you need to do is block the vaccum hose on top of the EGR valve.
