Thumbs up Valentine One on its way

The Valentine One is on its way !!

Has anyone done the remote display installation? I'm planning on doing it and was wondering what y'all have done. Any pics would be great!

I'll post my pics when i'm all completed. No promises on time though!

Why would you want the remote display? I have a valentine 1, and I really don't see the point in spending the extra money, just so other's can't see it. Whoopy doo. Plus then you have all those extra wires hanging around....not really that much of a benefit in my opinion.

I guess pics are kinda useless from my car...all you would see would be the 4 inches of wire that goes from the detector into the headliner.

if you have your wires going to the headliner, i assume you have the radar mounted high... just an fyi for all people with radars, it is not good to mount them up too high...

If the radar is behind your tint strip, it will lower its sensitivity and thus waste a lot of function you dropped all that bank on... The radar detection works off of bouncing waves back to the sensor, for example when a cop shoots at your car, he shoots at your liecense plate since that is where the most reflection of light is coming off... when people say red cars get more tickets, there is some truth to that because they do relflect more waves than say a black car that is absorbing more waves...

IF you had a black car, with black flip down lights and no front plate, you are very hard to get a good read on from the cop's perspective, equally if you radar is behind you tint strip, it is harder for the radar to pick up the shooting cop signal...

I am not trying to single you out buddy, this was just a good time to bring this up, i am just saying in general to people that what the radar guys say is that best place to mount the detector is just above the line of hte windshield wipers, then you don't obstruct your view, and your sensor acceptor gets the most reception aka earlier cop detection...

hope that all makes sense

The tint strip won't affect radar. It's a radio wave. If the tint is metallic, maybe. Laser, on the other hand, could be affected. But the beam is so small, if your detector goes off with laser, you're already fucked.

I've seen several covers, but I don't know if any actually work. Last year our state passed a law that we don't need front plates, so I just took mine off.

Look here to see where to mount your detector: http://radarbusters.com/support/maximize-detector/2.asp

Look here for the "covers" that work:

:
I think you have radar and laser mixed up. A radar wave's wavelength is fairly large so it can't really be directed at your license plate. However, you are correct with the "color of your car theory". Cause if you think about it, you don't see the stealth bombers with a nice glossy orange paint job.

Yes, you would like to have the dectector in a place with as little obstructions as possible, however the tint band will affect laser more than radar. Laser is a infrared electromagnetic wave and thus can be blocked or slowed by a tinting band. Infrared waves are what are emitted from the sun as heat and this is what tint is made to reflection. Radar waves will still be picked up if you had your detector laying on your car's floor. But its range will obviously be lower than when placed in the windshield.
