Im looking to make a nice show car, so I have a few questions.
1. Interior Painting- Duplicolor sells Vinyl and Fabric Paint. General application for a dash and such would be just a spray on right? Its supposed to soak into the dash right? Clear coat?
2. Interior Painting- How would I do the carpet, headliner and rear deck?
3. Body Kit- Well I was looking to get a body kit, only problem is that my car bottoms out alot. We also have a lot of speedbumps and the body kit will not be able to get over them? Also will it scrape going up a driveway? Would getting springs to raise it alittle help? But then the car might be too high?
4. Would you think a CF Hood or a Hood with a scoop on it molded on it be better? I cant have both, but I think you guys are going to tell me its my decision
5. How much labor is a body kit to get put on and molded? (about)
6. How much would re-upholstery (vinyl) be about? 2 colored, black and white/silver
7. Paintjobs run about?
Thanks, ive searched, just a lot of stuff to rear through, I just want to make sure, kind of thing.
1. Interior Painting- from people i know, they hate it after they do it, so think long and hard before you venture into this.
2. Interior Painting (carpet, headliner and rear deck) - they make fabric spraycan thingie for fabric painting. On the whole, they seem to work, but the fabric ain't going to smooth like OEM, its more cracky/hard feel/touch to it...On the seats, as you use them..the crackingness breaks down...I've used those on OEM mats (when i was selling my celica), they came out nice (knowing the buyer wasn't going barefoot on them).
3. Body Kit- Your struts are most likely worn out. A car SHOULDN'T bottom out. Rather than adding a kit and then raising it, just leave it same w/o a kit or lowered w/o a kit. Anything raised is going to look like a SUV! Do remember, only the front will scrape, as long as you get a decent kit and know how to drive at an angle on driveways exits/entry's you should be good.
4. Would you think a CF Hood or a Hood with a scoop on it molded on it be better?
A good CF hood IMO looks sweet as long as you have a decent color car to begin with. Some people here were fortunate to have choosen a nice OEM colors. I've seen a beidge accord with CF hood, i looked really bad. So ensure your car's color is good to have a contrasting CF hood
5. How much labor is a body kit to get put on and molded? (about)
Again, depending on your bodyshop connections. Some people got it done for 300, some for over a grand, depending on what EXTREME you are willing to go to make it flush!
6. How much would re-upholstery (vinyl) be about? 2 colored, black and white/silver

7. Paintjobs run about?
My Celica costed 1600, my Lexus Es costed 2500; make sure you understand the difference between just a respay of a paint color and a paintjob before getting qoutes from shops!

i think it depends on what kit your thinkin about getting.
be careful with gettin a kit molded... it can be a lot of cracking and you are going to have to spend money, in the future to repaint and reseal, if you want to keep it looking good...
a lot of people i know that have molded, have reinstalled back to not molded and just dealt with the lines... depends on if you REALLY want a total show car

1. Any idea for the interior then, its a grey now, I was going to go for a black if possible, can I dye it?
2. Can I RIT Dye it?
3. It bottoms out alot, struts are probably worn then, I rather get it lowered and new struts because i have a better chance of not messing up my bumper
4. Its a white car and probably will stay that way.... a long time. I already talked to my dad, he said he will help with with fiberglassing the scoop on the hood and all the construction of that.
5. It can be a show car without body kit for now... right?
6. What kind of shops? Besides car shops like a fabric store?

7. N/A
1. Not sure so i won't try.
2. Not sure so i won't try.
3. I'd suggest you definetly get struts but if you really want a show car, you'd probably have to get lowering springs too or else your car looks terrible sitting up high.
4. If you dad can get a scoop for cheap do that. Otherwise definetly get a CF hood.
5. If you have nice rims and it's lowered it can still look really nice. It can still be show car but If your looking to get sponsored, I've never ever seen a show car w/o a kit.
6 Not sure so i won't try.
7. Expensive, especially if you want a show car. It'll prolly cost 2000+ at least for a great looking color.
