Congrats!!!

Just keep the oil changed....switch to synthetic if you haven't, already. (Mobile 1 has one formulated for high mileage and I use it in my old 92 Subaru and it's running like a champ!)

Most cars need timing belt/chain replaced around 100K so check in your maintenance book.

Good Luck!

Boo

100K on a Toyota is barely scratching the surface.

Just keep the oil changed with good oil and a good filter.

Regular stuff like plugs and other fluids.

And make sure the brakes and suspension parts are in good shape.

I had the heater control valve go bad but it's a normal wear and tear thing.

I just passed on my 91 Cam (4cyl. m/t) that had 202K+ miles on it, and the car was pretty much rock solid. In accord w/the others: keep your oil changes regular (and other std. maint.), and you should get another 100K easy. I was still getting close to 400 miles per tank when my Gen2.5 rolled on; I loved that car.

well, your car is just geting broken in. It'll run 350k without an iissue, just needs oil changes, belts, tune ups and repairs when something breaks...and lots of paint to keep the rust away

I'm in agreement with everyone else keep up on oil changes and normal maintenance.

Also what are the reccomended guidelines for scheduled maintanence after 100k?

Should you go back and treat 100k like 1... and do a service at 130k, 160k, 190k, etc... The dealer may charge too much but should you keep it up with after that? I know a couple of people that after 100k... they just drive it and fix stuff when it breaks.

I now use a high mileage oil and usually cut the oil change intervals a little shorter since I'm using the car more.

I just did a tranny fluid and filter change last fall when I was at 140K. Wasn't having any problems but decided to do it anyway since I hadn't done it yet.

Nothing has really gone bad. Just a few minor things like heater control valve and various light bulbs but those were easy.

The radiator started leaking but found one on eBay for 1/2 of what the auto parts stores wanted.

That's about it. It's really such a great car with minimal problems.

100K is just "broken-in". Got 270K on my '87 before I sold it...and it's still running. Same engine and tranny. Do what everybody suggested...keep the fluids clean.

Rust is the big problem on gen1 and gen2, not as much on gen3 but I see some starting to go on the leading edge of the hood (I know mine is, and the damn car is only ten years old). Also, idk about you other gen3 people, but my right-side rocker panel is beginning to rust just ahead of the wheelwell. I saw a white gen3 once with a huge rust splotch on the RF door but that's... idk, not typical.

Steve
