Horn Upgrade

Sounds like a whimpy horn we have on the Gen 3. Anyone agree? How do we upgrade. Normally you have 2 horns, lower and higher, how do you adjust, if any.

What do you upgrade to? Simple as replacing the horn, which is so accesible.

Anyone?

Get a pair of these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=4532434456
...or grab some off a junked domestic truck. It's as simple as bolting them on and hooking up a single wire to each one (just split the wire to the stock one to run two).

Edit: if they have 2 connections like the Hella's, one is ground.

Junkyard domestic car with dual horns. I suggest a relay be used, the OEM Toyota relay is quite small.

I got these: Wolo MODEL 400 AIRMITE 2 DUAL TONE AIR HORN 118 Decibels from a Pep Boys for around $30.00. Here is a picture: http://www.wolo-mfg.com/air.htm

They sound like loud trumpets so they definately get noticed more than factory sounding horns. I have them mounted right behind the grille on the radiator support so they do fit. I have them wired to their own switch b/c I still use the stock steering wheel horn "button" for a "freeway blaster 115 db replacement electric disc horn". We have so many deaf old people driving around here who can't hear certain frequencies so I sometimes have to use all three to prevent getting side swiped.

I upgraded my horn this weekend. Paid $8 for a pair from a Cadillac Eldorado (old skool : 1970's). It was a direct bolt on and it sounds great. Just so you know, one of the horns for the Gen3 is right behind the grille (easy enuff to see) but the other one is hidden behind the driver side headlight. Took me 5 minutes to find it. I relocated it behind the grille where the other one was.

Hmm, interesting...my second one is right behind and below the passenger side headlight, not the driver's side. I have a 92 V6 LE.

Here you go. I thought of the horn songs from watching this Option Video I dl'ed on soulseek; Daijiro Inada drove this guy's Skyline (I think ... maybe it was a Datsun of some sort), & when he hit the horn it played the theme music from the movie "The Godfather."
