Just wanting to change my oil soon as it's getting a little dark.
I've got Penrite HPR 30 SAE 20W-60 in it at the moment.
I will be changing the oil filter as well.
What would be a good rating to change to?
This is in Aus mind you..so we have brands like Mobil, Penrite, Shell etc.
Engine is 2VZFE and has 274,000km's.
Thanks.

I'd use Mobil. I've been using the Mobil Driveclean in mine lately. I tried some amsoil, which seemed to get consumed a bit more quickly (and require me to continually top off), but likely cleaned the engine out quite well. I'm very happy with the driveclean mobil. (the synthetic blend stuff)
Yes... There is never a better time to urn a synthetic oil than the present.
Any high quality synthetic... Mobile's premium $$$ synthetics are pretty much tops if you exclude AMSoil.

Just an update...
Changed the oil from Penrite 20W-60 dyno oil..to Mobil 1 Synthetic 10W-30.
Plus a new oil filter.
The difference is fantastic. The engine revs soo much better now.
I did change alot of my seals, incl. the rear main seal so..i shouldnt have leaks..and I don't.
I would recomend this to anyone with an older motor..if they want to change the seals aswell..and if they don't have tooo higher milege. Mines got 275K km's on it atm.
One of the things that make it obvious that the motor is revving better and free'er is when the engine is cold...the engine RPM's are higher than they were before..and also the engine warms up quicker. Performance, even on a hot day is better..so i've come to the conclusion that part of my "hot day" performance loss was due to an old, think oil.
Thanks to everyone for there support.

you should becareful dude, if you dont use a synthectic oil that is specifically made for high milege cars then you could have a problem, this is becuase (and i've said this before on another thread) older engines are literally held together buy the gunk and sludge built up in your engine, and if you use a full synthetic oil it will eat away that old gunk in your cracks and it will cause your oil to leak (not a lot of leaking but defiantly a noticable amount, like a quart every 1,500 miles) so just a fair warning to you, i personally use max-life synthetic oil (valvoline) which is specifically treated for cars with high mileage.
so it would be smart to go ahead and check your oil level every week or two, just to be safe, cause i would hate for your oil level to bottom out and then blow your engine or some rods thru your case.
edit: i must of missed the part in your message that said you chanhed your seals, my bad...anyway, i'll leave my above message up just incase it might help someone with questions about oil.
glad to hear your engine's working fine.
