Alright. I've got the 6 color indiglo guages coming
for my 2000 camry. I've heard a few people say to use a
special tape to keep them down, and others say not to
use tape but not screw the bezel down too much???
So what are the do's and don'ts of this project.
Also a quick question. Do I take out the bulbs that are
behind the guages right now or leave them in?
i used double sided carpet tape .. they are holding on good...
as for the lights at the back i left them there to light up the odometer.. i think u got digital so im not so sure.. anyways.. im using the bulbs but i had them switched over to superwhite.. which makes it light upthe whole cluster nicer than just the indiglos.. try it with the bulbs and without .. i liked with so u try it out...
so did you buy different colored bulbs or did you just take the green covers off of yours? What year is your camry?
In another post someone mentioned not using the dimmer switch in my
car because it could burn out the guages...have you had trouble in this area?
You do NOT need double-sided tape for the Gen4, since the black bezel will hold down the indiglo gauges. The bezel just snaps in, but don't tighten too much on the screws that hold the gauges down, since you don't want to pinch it much. On the Gen3, the gauges stick out a bit over the bezel, so double sided tape was needed to hold them down, as they can't be held down by the bezel. Yes, do NOT use the dimmer power as your turn on source, use the green/white wire on the brown plug (rightmost). I don't recommend using hyperwhite bulbs as they have a higher wattage that the stock wires my not able to handle.
i have a 4th gen to and installed indiglos to. first you have to take off the guage frame which has two screws on top. unscrew and pull down from the bottom sides and out. after that there should be 4 screws holding the guage instrument panel together. unscrew those. in the back there should be 3 harnesses a blue, white and brown one. unplug those. and remove the white clear frame from the guage bezel. unscrew old screws and carefully place indiglo guages over them and screw together. now for the power red wire just place it directly on the brown harness on the right with the green wire. if ur not sure use a 12volt power testor. and hten just ground the black wire in the screw behind entire guage bezel. thats all

Thanks guys for your help. This sounds alot easier than I thought it was
going to be. Almost thought I was going to have to rip apart half of my
dash to get in there.
Sorry to dig up an old post but I was about to install my indiglo gauges on my gen four.. I was looking at the brown harness and theres two or three green wires. Some with white on them. So after reading this post I'm still confused. One person says to hook it up to the green/white wire...another person says to hook it up to the green wire. Does anyone know which wire i tap into? I dont have a volt meter to test it rite now. THanks.

Just grab a cheap volt meter from home depot or something.
Trust me you wouldn't want to do anything electrical on your car without one.
yeah i have a multimeter sitting here in the tool box... awww man it'd be much easier if ya told me which wire it was..... *sigH* better dust off the multimeter.

Don't disrespect the volt meter.
Always put it in a moisture/dust-free, ventilated, easy to reach area.
use the voltmeter/mulitimeter. i'm thinking the "green wire with white stripe, 2nd from the end" but you'd better double-check. make sure to test out the signal while turning the dimmer, you wouldn't want it spliced into your dimmer.
yeah it is that green and white wire...but i just sawdered the power straight onto the positive contact of the first lightbulb since it wasn't one of hte controller contacts...
Well I did have some help from my dad here and since he is an electrical and computer engineer he does know a bit more...hey, how did you guys run the wires after you got the guage faces on? Because I had to run the indiglos wires through the 3 different holes from the lightbulbs that i had already yanked out since i didn't want them. Just can't see my milage at night..ohwell.
woohoo... i just got the gauges on.. thanks guys. it looks great. Yeah it was the green/white wire. I just drilled a small hole and routed my wires through there. I tired taking a bulb out first but i didnt like the fact that one of my needles wouldnt light up.
I routed the wires thru a small opening at the top of the cluster.

So you have wires coming out the top 2 sides.
