4th Generation Attn:88LE auto to Manual Swap

Well heres the gist of it:
Allready searched all of TN and a lot of the solaraguy forum and there isnt a direct step by step guide i could go with on what to do and things needed. Best help seems to be the guide by ratko, yet it is for the 3vz and there were a lot of steps which dont apply to me but was wondering if I needed to do anything additional to make it work. 97 Auto v6 Cam in Elk Grove and I talked to some of my buddies at work who knows you (Rich Santos/Roland) and said you could prolly be of help. I plan to have a shop do it (since I know them "Evolution Motorsports near SMA") but they've never done an auto to manual swap into a gen4 camry and though I might give them a list of steps and parts needed for help. Esp. since I want my car to work right after its done Any help would be needed, I still have your number from before, but thought it would be rude to call out of nowhere. Thanks for your help again.

Well the parts list still applies.

1. Tranny (E153).

2. Clutch master cylinder, clutch slave cylinder (should come with the tranny), clutch lines (theres a hard line and a rubber line).

You can use a stainless steel braided line instead of the rubber line. Theres a place (American Street Rod) off of Sunrise Blvd. that sells stainless steel braided lines + fittings.

3. Clutch and brake pedal.

4. Shifter assembly.

5. Shifter cables.

6. Shifter trim piece (auto and manual is different).

7. Center console piece. You might need this piece.

8. Axles. You might be able to use your existing axles. Hold off on this till you find out if your existing axles will work or not.

9. Flywheel. It should come with the tranny, just have it resurfaced at a machine shop.

10. Clutch (clutch disc, pressure plate, throwout bearing, pilot bearing). Not sure if this comes with the tranny or not. You'll probably want to replace it anyways, so I guess it doesn't really matter.

I've never done a auto to manual swap either. But I have replaced engines and trannies.

Ask Roland about the engine and 2 auto trannies on Joe Steeles 94 Camry.

cool thanks for the help man. Do you know any places here where i can get most of the small parts to get the job done ex:pedals, lines, shifter assembly, trim etc? I knew we have a pick an pull plus those specialty junk yards (which iver never been to) at sunrise, but dont know which ones carry Solaras/Camrys to yank parts from. Just talked to the shop today and they were willing to do it as long as I supply all the parts and any help that I can. Used www.car-part.com and found that the Tap recycling over at Rancho has some brand new trannys for about 600 bucks.

Pick & Pull only has gen 1 and gen 2 Camrys.

Theres a few places off of Sunrise Blvd. that have junked Camrys. One of them is next to the Pick & Pull of Sunrise.

Theres also a few off of Recycle Rd., where the auto recyclers and TAP Recycling is at.

Other then that try car-part.com
