can you say opps!

This morning I was out with a friend scouting out some possible paintball sites on some back cournty roads. Will I ended up slidding off the road do to the crappie tires that I have. Well, I got hung up on the front right side and had to jack my car up on that side to slid some boards and rocks under it to give it traction.
I was able to get out and turned around. Then I notice that my gas guage which was between 3/4 and 1/2 a tank (before this happened) started to move up. By the time I was back on the main road the guage was reading full and not moving.
I just talked to the toyota service department here in town. The guy said that it could be a sensor that is shorting out or something. Now does that sound right? Or could I have just knocked a wire lose when I was on the gravel road or from being stuck?

well if your car was un-leveled while you were stuck in the ditch, then it would have changed the gauge, cause it would have shifted all the gas in your tank, then once back on the road it would have leveled back out to normal, also those gauges are really really slow.

also, why dont you just think about how long it's been since your last fill up, and if it hasnt been very long then most cases will point to that you have a full tank...common sense there

I only had about 134 miles on the tank when this happened and the ground wasn't really that unlevel. The right front of my car was basically resting on the ground (kind of like being high centered if that makes since). I've been stuck like this before but a little worse and didn't have this problem.

Has it gone back down yet? It doesn't seem like somethign that might have come from you slidign off the road. I put mine up into a snow bank Ice Racing and it was hung up on the frame till I got pulled out. I hit it at probably 45mph. No damages.

That doesn't seem like it would be because of grave. Unless you severed one of the lines on the under side. But most of the electrical runs through the car under the back seat and carpet. So that doesn't seem right.

It would help, if that was the problem. But if no lights come on, then it means it isn't electrical or connected to the ECU.

That's kind of what I figured. So then what would make it do this? if it's not electrical then what else could make it do that. a lose cable maybe? I forgot to mention I have gen 4 camry 4cyl. w/auto.

really dumb question....are you leaking gas???

It could be a sending unit that came unplugged in the acident, check sending units, and also unplug th batt, and let the car reset itself,

4th Generation

nope not leaking gas. I just took it to the dealer to have it looked at cause I'm spetically off my abilites when it comes to anything fuel related. I did diconnect the battery and let it rest over night but no luck. Onn the plus side I was able to clean my battery terminals and I hope it's nothing major.
