cuise control and manual?????

hi guys! i have a 1991 camry sv21 Ultima. its auto and has cruise control. for a long time i've wanted to convert my car to manual, but i just had a thought, what about my cruise control? i'm pretty sure its possible to keep it but i would have to get a clutch switch right?
1. does anyone know where i could get one (preferably here in Australia)?
2. or would i have to source one directly from toyota?
3. or could i use an aftermarket one?
4. anything else i would need?

thanks guys.

I had cruise control on my old Camry with a manual tranny. I never tried pushing the clutch to see what would happen to the cruise... If you use all stock gen2 parts, there may be a switch there ready for you to use on the clutch pedal assembly... then you'd just need some diodes to isolate the circuit for the cruise sensing and you'd be fine....

Or.... just don't press the freakin' clutch when the cruise control is engaged.

When you push the clutch while in cc on a manual, it kicks out of cc... just as if you hit your brake.

it'll be fine, just does what Big Body LX said. But it wont be an easy swap; just ask Jetspeed!
just pick one up from the wreckers, only go to toyota as a last resort as they charge a fortune for spare parts

For a long time i didn't know that cruise control was available on manual vehicles. When I first heard it i was suprised, but yeah I would think it would come out of cc if you push in the clutch.

cool. thanks guys. i knew that if you hit your foot on the clutch cruise control turns off. i actually dont know what the clutch switch does. i was told i may need one. i'd be getting my friends manual tranny from his sv21, so its definitely all genuine gen 2.

My ewd manual shows a cruise control clutch s/w. It ties to pin 11 (NS) on the cruise control computer.

From what I can tell, it functions as one of the cancel s/w for the cruise control. In other words pressing down the clutch pedal disengages cruise control, if cruise control is set.

11-13:

continuity with clutch pedal depressed (m/t)

continuity with shift lever in N or P range (a/t)

(one of the cancel s/w)

Prolly all sorted now but thought I'd put in my 2c.

Have just put in a Command AP60 aftermarket cruise and it has the option of a clutch switch. It's a sensor rather than a switch which ties in with the brake switch circuit(ie two wires - 12v and 0v). When the circuit breaks with brake or clutch operation the CC turns off.

If u can't track down a factory clutch switch maybe a Command one (Supercheap, Kmart have them cheap) will do the job ? Good luck
