Jap vs US???

What is the difference between japanese toyotas and US toyotas? Someone asked and I know there are differences but not what they are besides body styling and names.

HUUUH???

That is such a broad ended question.

There are SEVERAL models that the US doesn't have. Some Japanese Toyotas have better options and performance.

Models we didn't get and got f*cked:
1. Chaser
2. Verossa
3. Levin
4. Will
5. Caldina

there are more and more. I just don't feel like putting much effort into this thread.

since this is in the camry forum,
Externally/visually:
1. They have indicator things on the fendor
2. Their coner bulbs aren't lightted - only when indicating - ours are dual fillaments, lighted and also indicate

Internal:
1. THANK GOD, we don't get all the lacy curtains in the rear seats (any one who knows this knows how tacky this looks).

Engine wise:
1. both the 4cylinder engines are same.
2. we get the 3mzfe engine and a 1mzfe mated with a 5speed auto tranny (with vvti), all they get are the 1mzfe (4speed auto w/o auto).

correction, American and Japanese get 5 speeds for the Gen3, 3vzfe, camrys. Both are hard as balls to find. I have a JDM Gen3 V6 SE w 5 speed and I have yet to see another one like it

Once when I stopped at the dealership for some parts they asked me if my Camry was a Japanesse or us model? The guy told me you could tell by your VIN number. If it began with I think he said the letter J or the number 4 it was Japanesse and anything else it was american (don't remember too well).

CORRECTION
DUDE i was referring to tranny's...read!
I was referring to 4speed auto and 5spped auto's CURRENTLY available. Our 2azfe and 1mzfe and 3mzfe all have 5speedautomatics (ie. 5 forward gears). Japan gets 2azfe and 3mzfe with 4speed automatics (we got the 4speed auto's up untill 2001 v6 camrys and 1998 Es300's).
Edit: and learn how to quote too...

I assumed it was safety feature so that kids in the back seats don't lean thru the window..and jump out (god know why would they do that)...but still....If this is a diy feature...PEOPLE pls post the setup, i would to have mine go all the way down!

Cool

Rear windows don't go down all the way for a reason. The windows doesn't fit in the door.
Compair a Camry rear window with an ES one. The ES ones are frameless, so they rotate forwards, go down farther, but still can't fit the back of the window in the door.

In general the engines are the same, the only differances being a lack of some emessions control, and higher power from timing and fuel tuning (they have 98ron as a standard gas, that have to survive shorter amounts of time).

I think 90% of the JDM cars are rather silly. That is probably the reason why they're not outside of the asian market. They won't sell anywhere else Atleast no more than what Toyota can all ready sell.
