3rd Generation Engine makes weired noises

Hey, I'm new to post here, but I have been reading these forums for a while..

I have a 92 camry V6. My problem is that sometimes when I'm cruising down the road at a constant speed for a long time and when I try to accelerate, the car makes this high pitched squeal like some rotating part in the car is hitting another metalic object. Only after I let go of the pedal and reapply gas, does the rattling/course sound stop.

This doesn't always happen, but I find that it is more common when I don't adjust my pedal pressure for a while (driving down a long road at ~40mph).\

Does anyone know what's up? and how I can fix this?

Thanks!

The high pitched squeal tells me its a bearing, tensioner, pulley, or belt.

Do you know where on the engine the noise is coming from?

At the drivers seat with my window open it sounds like the left side of my engine. The sound is also very low to the ground. Happens only when I step on the gas, but cures itself after I let go and reapply gas.

BTW, I had my timing belt changed 3000M back. The sound is like 2 metal objects vibrating across each other at the speeds.

With the limited letters of the alphabet that I have, it sounds like:

vmmmmmm szrrrzzzzzzzzzz

|-------------||----------------|

normal squeal

LOL.

I agree with 88LE, I'd check the left wheel bearing. Bearings can make noise then not, depending on loading, direction of travel, speed, etc.

What's the mileage? Is it automatic?

If automatic, check and change the transaxle differential fluid to see if the level is right.

Thanks I'll check the fluid right now! Where is the left wheel bearing? Is that right behind the brake?

Yes, my car is an A/T V6 92 built in Japan. I purchased the car in Canada, so it has almost 190,000km.

Ok, I did some looking and could now figure out where to find the transaxle differential fluid??

The local auto shop said that you need car-specific fluid for this sort of thing. Can I have more assistance 500kCamry? I'm new car part terms.

differential fluid for gen3's (at least 4cyl's) use dexron III ATF.

Is this just trans fluid?
Edit: Yeah, ok my fluid level is normal. Took me a while to realize what 500kcamry meant, he should've just said transfluid??

So I guess it's not the transmission? What part of the engine makes the most noise? The squealing seems to be coming from the same place.

the differential and transmission fluid reserviours are seperate in gen3's. some cars share reserviours.

IIRC, you actually need to remove a plug and stick your pinky in to see if you can feel fluid for the differential.

for this, I'd just take it to a shop (it'll only take a couple minutes for them and be cheap, if they even charge).

for a drain/refill of the differential, it should only run you like $50 (maybe less)

CrawlingEye is right.

On the automatic, the differential fluid is separate from the transmission. The fill/check location is on the rear of the case. You take out the bolt/plug and the fluid should be topped up until it comes out. Then put the bolt/plug back in. The drain plug is on the bottom of the differential if you want to drain it.

If you've lost fluid and need to add more, then you have a seal problem where the half axles exit the case, you should see dampness there.

What is the loudest part of the engine? I really don't think it's the transmission. It sounds like an unsmooth cam or rotating part between the driveshaft and the axels.

Ok, my alphabetical imitation of the sound has been mocked enough. Let me give an analogy, it sounds like a dremel tool cutting into aluminum.
