These questions are for those who are hooking up there camrys for hp and racing. Are you guys getting any serious hp? Is there really any potential for camrys to be fast? What mods do you have? Has anyone got any good hp gains out of the 4 banger? Has anyone put up serious 1/4 mile numbers? Ive seen people making jokes at people hooking up camrys mobbed out or whatever the fuck you guys say... whats so wrong with that? Is that not what a camry is for? Im just asking out of curiousity. Ive got a 99 Black LE with clear corners, blacked out tail lights, mc culloch 10000k HID kit, a sick system, and 20s... what should I do next?
i don't know about the racing part, but a few members here have serious stuff for their camrys/solaras i.e. Tony The Tiger, Wraith, JoeB, Ufoz and lot more. I think Wraith and Ufoz is working on their sick ass 4 banger, if you need more info you can contact them, they are great helpers. I would say any car has potential, but being a 4 banger you'll need to do some extra work to get you more power than the V6. If you have the heart and $$$ it can be done.
you should lower your car next, with your 20's your car would handle like a SUV. Get some Tokico's and Eibach springs, you'll be satisfied. If you want a little power you can get the rippmod supercharger system. www.rippmods.com or you can custom made one yourself, but it require extensive knowledge, specially if you only have one car, cause if anything f'ed up you'll have to walk LoL. And forget those ppl you make fun of your camry, they properly say stuff like that because they are jealous LoL.

Post pictures.
I'd like to see your "sick system" along with color-band of your 10000K HIDs (I don't imagine you get great light-output with 'em...)
As what you should do next...clearly, you're not going to race your Camry ridin' on dubs and clear corners aren't going to give you any HP boosts, I'd say...tint your windows (if you haven't done so already). It's a minor cosmetic upgrade that actually has practical benefits.
You guys act like hp is all that matters in a car...
I Auto-Cross and Rally-Cross my Camry. And I have taken out WRX's, Porches, and other fast cars.
But yes, hp can be gotten from any engine with displacement. Meaning ANY engine. It's all in the builders skill. Forged internals and a blower and you have hp. Not too hard.

^^^very true...[not condoning street racing b/c i'm stupid enuf to do it] i've taken cars that i know are faster than me on the highways late at night b/c they don't know their car as wel as i know mine (basically how tight a squeeze i can manage )...
u might have seen pictures, but camrys have been used to race. (RMM right guys?)
go with tint, maybe suspension, small engine mods, but u could set it up as more of a show car that way u wouldn't have to worry so much about performance...

As for road racing and such... Plenty of people here use their Camrys and Solaras for that purpose. Now that my build has taken a new direction, I think I may be one of the very very few (if not only) people on the board who is building an all out time attack car.
It's only true because I don't have the money to spare to build the engine. Damn Wyotech and costing so much
Otherwise I would be right up there with you Allen. After Wyotech I'll convert both of our cars to RWD

If you want a fast car with out a lot of money you have the Wronge car....Now if you want a nice looking car with a sporty feel and can beat your everyday ricer you have the right car... If you want to go for a show look (since you have 20's) There are a lot of body kits for the Gen4 camry that look really good.... If you want speed Go with a rippmod supercharger or a custom turbo...A N/A camry is hard to do and a lot of money.... If you want a good rally car go with some 17 or 18's, Tein coilovers, and new sway bars... That is some of the stuff you can do

You mean roll over anytime he takes a 90 degree turn?
Bigger wheels don't help with bodyroll, they give you a larger contact patch. They hold the road better. However they will rub like hell taking tight turns.
Allen: If you have a SC300 in 16 months, then we'll compare. Unless you actually import a JDM one. Then you can get the stock TT Either way, I'll be pimping an all out rally/road racing Camry
Free labor for anyone that will house me!
