4th Generation Moonroof HELP & ???

Hello,

This is my first post and I am new to the world of Camry.

I recently purchased a 1997 Camry LE American Edition. I really like it.

I have a few questions regarding the power sliding moonroof, which at present doesn't work. I am pretty knowledgable mechanically, so please help me out here.

I did a search thru the old posts but did not find the answer to my questions...

I would be happy to just get it to pop-up, it would not have to slide.

Here is where I am at... When I toggle the switch nothing at all happens.

Is there a fuse specifially for the moonroof or a relay that may have been pulled out??

Is there an easy fix for the moonroof? Something that tends to be the problem?

Does a dealer fix involve big $$$?

Short of that is there an aftermarket drop-in replacement??

Thanks!!!

Fuse? Switch? Wiring? Is it electrical or mechanical?
If its a factory unit, chances of getting it fixed are much higher.
I am sure there are grey market parts but nothing drops in.
Invest in a manual of some sort to assist. It gets pretty involved.
Dealers charge $75 @ hour and up, parts not included.
Includes cables and crap everywhere, drop the headliner to access.

I love using the darn thing.

Moon switch pickey

I have a '94 Camry that I bought last year, had a small fire by previous owners... Moon switch would work sometimes & not close when I saw rain coming,,,,, I took the switch apart & cleaned with an eraser, worked for a little while but on the blink again.... Was the Camry smoked heavy inside by previous owners???? Bob

Yes it was a smoker car, but not too heavy from the smell.

I have found an arm/lever broken on the drivers side, so they may have disarmed the switch to keep it from being moved.

I have more investigating to do.

Thanks!
