carpeted dash

What is the advantage of a carpeted dash? The only think I can think of is to keep it from fading and cracking.

Other than that what else could they do? They look kinda funny to me.

I've been seeing alot of these in cars lately. I personally don't like'em. The only way I would use one is if my dash was really horribly messed up.

They can cause less reflection on the windshield.

I only use my dash-mat (the true name and not carpet) in the summers.
1. there is less glare on my windshield - i live in houston so teh summers are pretty lighted....
2. i'm sure some of you have seen this - when you park your car and come back on a sunny day, the dash is really hot...(despite if your using or not using a sun reflector sheild)...the dash gets pretty hot when driving in the summer too...you tend to use more a/c to keep your cabin cool. With the mat, i use less a/c as my car doesn't heat up as much...

but then again i'm talking using this for 2-3 months, not year around.

I think my mom's camry needs a dash mat. There's large burn marks which most likely came from the sunlight and high temps during the summer.

good reason for dash carpet...... hmmmm, cover up cracked dash, or better yet more traction for your feet...if you can't get to the backseat...lol I have no carpet on dash or backseat either

The more reason to use the Naval type Protectant, used on boats and RV's. It does not compare to the armor alls, etc.. Check out Walmart, a bit expensive compared to Armor All, but well worth it.

It protects the dashboard from UV, this is what makes them crack.

No more weaves required, for those cracked dashboards....take art lessons.
