What could this be? (Brake ?)

Lately I have been having a c squeek while driving form my rear passenger wheel. I thought it was the rotor, so I took it to have it machined and also they did something with the brake pads (sand it or something) so that it wouldn't squeek no more. However I have come to noticed that the squeek is still there even after machining the rotor. What could be causing this squeek and when it's not actually squeeking its making a rubbing type of noise. It's no constant it seems to be at only one part of the rotor or whatever is making the noise. What could be making this noise? I'ts driving me crazy.

anti-squeal shims all rusty? that would do it....

brake pads getting worn out and the squealing metal thingy on it that's supposed to tell you when your pads get kind of low?

it's hard to diagnose something like this...you'll have to try one thing at a time...good luck

Well I don't think it would be that because I just replaced brake pads in december. Could it be that that same indicator somehow got bent or something and is now rubbing? I guess I'll try grinding that down or something.

if it really is that....you can actually just take it off...it's a piece of metal that just clips onto your brake pad.....


but again...to diagnose a sound like that, it'll take a bit of guess work

If u just got your rotor machined then look at it again and see if there are any deep scratches. if there are, see if they match up with the shims. Do like Eye8 said and just remove them. You can also try different types of brake pads. I have been using ceramic pads and havn't heard a peep from them. Its been 8k and still no signs of noise. Another problem could be that the e-brake cable is loose/too tight.

It turned out to be one of the pads was cracked.
