3rd Generation What works, what don't.

Greetings to all!

1st, this is an awesome site. The wealth of information is daunting to say the least. This point brings me to the reason I am writing this. Here are the facts:

1. I purchased a 1994 Camry V6 XLE Loaded w/24,683 miles! (Grandma, she never drove it)
2. I am in love with this car!

So, with that being said, this is what I want to accomplish, and with your help and guidance, I believe I can do this.

1. Want a "stiffer" ride but not lowered.... What springs will do this?
2. Thinking about Monroe-Sensa-trac struts... yes/no/dumb/smart? (Front and rear)
3. Sway bars - STIFFER - swaybars? Are they available? no/yes/who
4. Exhaust - Would like a dual setup.. anyone done this?
5. Headers?
6. "Y" pipe?
7. Strut bar - anything better than the buck fifty cheap-o's on E-Bay, or are they legit?

I have read a good bit on the CAI, and educate myself on that one... I will do the CAI mod, and just hogout the current intake feeder from the fender.. whit the mod suggested. Good idea.

Other than that.. I believe there is not much more to be done. It has the 1MZ-FE V6 and I am happy with the performance. I already did the kick down cable adjustment on the tranny. It did make it shift firmer, thank you.

I also replaced the plugs with the Bosch +2 Double Platniums... I feel better.

If you have any suggestions in addidtion to this that I, as a novis, did not list or think about, please let me know!

Thank you for your time, and advise!

Well.. seriously... it is a Camry in MINT condition! She kept it in a garage, covered! The ONLY option she did not get was the rear spoiler.. which I JUST got and had painted. I picked it up 3hrs ago and will be putting it on this evening. It is the OEM style. I will get the windows tinted and a nice stereo installed with Polk audio replacement speakers. I am pretty happy with the performance.. the V6 is peppy and I am pleased! What I REALLY want, is a better ride.... more performance like, but I do not want to loose any ground clearance. Also, I am researching the header/muffler/cat back thingie as well as I can. Trust me, if there is nothing out there, I am perfectly happy with what is on the Camry now... I just think it would look cool with dual mufflers. Anyway.... that you for your help and ideas!

I wouldn't worry about lowering the car. The only good springs I've been able to find for our car is the Eibach Pro Kit. They're designed so that you don't have to change your wheel/tire size and not have any problems. Do some hunting around on the forum and you'll be bound to find enough setups to figure out what you need to build the car you want to build. As far as strut bars, someone told me that it did stiffen up his car pretty good, I just don't know if he had any other suspension mods done to the car. For $35-$50 why not go for it? Easy bolt-on and you don't have to make room for it.

wow.. great find on that car. how many grandma's drive v6's? i dont know of any.

Hey buddy i would think twice about putting bosch plugs in a asian import. Bosch plugs do wonders for the euro cars. but NGK/Denso's are the ones you should get for the asian imports. there is a thread on this as well.

Aleast you did some research. found out about things and then asked questions. Other then the stuff you listed i dont think there are many more preformance mods one can do w/o going custom. Since your happy with preformance i wont interest u with the turbo/superchargers that are almost done developing.

Definitely suggest swapping to Denso/NGK's, I learned that the hard way.

As for the struts, go with KYB's, they'll give you the ride you're looking for and still be good for aftermarket springs. As for the springs, I'd say go with some H&R's or Eibach's. They both will lower the car, but it's only about 1.2-1.5" which won't be anything too extreme at all.

Thank you for the info. Do you know who makes the sway bars, and if they have a web site?

whiteline makes a rear sway bar and the trd solara swaybar will fit if you purchase the proper brackets.

edit: you can get the whiteline bar from sean at http://www.ctmotorsport.com
he's a great guy and carries a lot of whiteline products. it's where I got mine from.

The strut bar I'll probably get for my car is made by Toucan Industries' Ractive brand. Here's a link: http://www.toucanindustries.com/inde...&link=Ractive1

I've seen them for around $35 on different parts supplier websites like JC Whitney. As far as sway bars, I haven't really looked into them. But I have heard of that whiteline brand before.
