Camry & Solara LoungeDiscussion area for every generation of Toyota's family car, the Toyota Camry. Lexus ES250/300 owners welcome! Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance and more.
I hadno choice, my dad gave it to me when he bought his lexus es330. Camry is considered a family car. But you guys.. Same story with you? Or something else?
For 7 yrs my gen3.5 never let me down! I traded the car, then bought it back because I felt guilty leaving it at the dealership...........Its part of the family...
Maybe I need to see a doctor!!!
I need to see a dr too. Since it's a 'family' car, cops don't single me out. It's reliable, good-looking and I love arguing with people who cannot believe it's a 95.
SlingXShot-after meeting some of these deveoted Camry owners and see what you can do with these cars, you won't see it as a family car anymore.

I bought mine because I got such a good price on it and it had low miles. I fixed it up because I can't seem to own a car without dumping money into it.
Camry's are ridiculous cars I think. They last forever (most til 300k and beyond) and there are a surprising number of mods for them. The body kits make camry's look VERY sweet.
Also, any 5-speed version, especially '97 and above, feels like they were BUILT for speed (not to say that the auto-tranny's aren't quick too! I got an auto, haha ) but they are fast. once you start modding it out, you will realize that. get some rear red/white tail lights, clear corners, and you'll start to see ur camry stand out. especially if it is a 99. is '99 4.5? you can get euro/altezza lights if it is.
I get VERY jealous that my 97 doesnt have the slanted trunk lights everytime i see a 4.5

Nothing like a strong car. If you dont like the way it looks, you will learn to. They are a good number of things to do to it. 5sfe i4 engines are strong, last forever. Just a nice overall car.
When i bought my car i had two choices since i wanted a brand new 4 door car with a V6 and manual transmission. I didnt buy a Maxima because the dealer was extremely hard to work with and i got my Camry for $4000 cheaper.
Yeah.....the camry is a kick @ss car! I know my car has over 400K+ miles on it!...I sh*t you not...I've done one full rebuild and I'm still using the same slushbox. As long as you maintain it and keep it in check....this car can last. The 5SFE i4's are really easy to work on plus you have a lot of engine space to work with.
I have a 3rd gen Camry LE and a lot of people can't believe its a 92' model. Same Cashmeire Beige Color .....washed, polished and waxed regularly. Yeah and you guys are right about cops. They don't single you out. The camry would be a perfect sleeper....once you fabricate and install your custom turbo kit.
One thing i like about the 3rd gen camrys...is the sleek curvy and modern design. Even though its a 92 or a 95....Its still up to date with the current models. It never gets old.
My first Camry was given to me as a HS graduation present. It lasted me until the breaks and hte steering failed on me...so what did i do? went out and got msyelf another Camry.

Anyways I have a 1990 camry. It was my first car because someone hit my dad from the side while he was turning, it was a hit n run though so there was no one to blame, the camry had only liability insurance. Normally it woulda been considered a total as there was extensive frame damage.
But i took over the car as my first car, i took a class in autobody *still a student* n fixed my camry, frame, headlight *passenger* , bumper, bumper reinforcement, valance panel, fender, all for about 250 or less not including 50 for paint which i did w/ some help.
I bought a gen 2 supra about last month n i still cant seem to let my camry go.
So im gonna keep on pouring cash into my baby, i still need a body kit though, im trying to remove some of that box look to it.
the 3gen Camry is just a beautiful car. the design is wonderful and the engines are the best.. (3VZ-FE) hehe the next generations are not so beautiful like the 3 gen. I love my Camry 93 3VZ-FE....
For 7 yrs my gen3.5 never let me down! I traded the car, then bought it back because I felt guilty leaving it at the dealership...........Its part of the family...
Maybe I need to see a doctor!!!
haha, you went crawling back

It's not bad for a daily driver.

very similar story to me. it was a hand-me down from my parents. i wanted an acura rsx. I HATED the camry at first. I have no kids, so why do i need a family car???
but now 5 yrs w/ it, and w/ my modifications, it's getting harder for me to let go don't get me wrong, in a few yrs when I make some money, i will definitely get something nice (G35 coupe, or maybe the new IS350??? but for now i'm satisfied.
