hey everyone. i just thought this was interesting. i went to pep boy's to get my oil changed and tires rotated and balanced. there was this guy who was buying some stuff and left and came back in and was like "someone stole my car". turns out, he had the same color 1990 camry (silver) as me...my key had fit his door lock and ignition, so they had pulled HIS car in to do the work...kinda weird that the key fit his car...but, i guess it's impossible to have different keys for every individual car ever made...but, the probability of something like that happening?...hmm....just thought i'd share.

actually gen 2's are notorious for that, thats why they are one of the more stolen cars around. My friend's cressida got stolen with a screw driver, thats how easy it was to open and start.
go to a big parking lot and see how many gen 2's you can open with your car, youll probly be amazed
hmmm....idk how suspicious it would look if i tried opening random cars, but yea...i thought it might be something like that....plus, it was a copy of the original key, so maybe it was a little more generic or something, just a thought.

yeah gen2 have this problem.. my friends can start my car with a penny. which is why i changed my door locks.. so if they want my car they'll have to break the windows

two of my mates also have gen2s (ones a CS-X, the other a CSi). they can open various parts of each others cars (boot, or door etc) but neither of them can open any part of my car. nor can i open theirs. i was just assuming coz mine was the Ultima, toyota took a little more care with the locks.
My 90 key has opened about 75% of the other Gen2s at used car lots. No joke...it doesn't open w/ease all the time, but open nonetheless. I didn't really test ignition on them though.
That's the nature of it. I believe there are only 6-8 key codes for my 95 Integra and do not think the Camry has more than that either.
If someone were to steal my Camry...I'd laugh. It has all kinds of issues.
