Yea, u need an amp...

Yea man u definately need an amp. Bose is a very god kinda spreaker. So it is really 350 watts. There are some junky kinds like pyramid and others who say they're like 500 watts when they're only really 100. Go to ebay.com and search for a 2 channel amp. I would recommend a pioneer, they are a very good kind, and people sell them for very cheap on ebay. If you need any help installing the system let me know i did mine myself and i think i did a professional job. They charge like 80.00 to do it at other places. Im redoing mine because i just got an amp to run to my highs...

i don't think that you can run home system stuff in your car and vice versa. they run at different resistances. something's bound to blow.

someone please explain the physics of it all (i'm just to lazy to look it up again).

A friend of mine had home woofer in his car too. No idea how it was hooked up tho. :-? Check ebay and just buy a woofer and amp combo, you can always find cheap stuff on there if you're pressed for cash.

I don't have a home subwoofer but typically home system speakers run at 8 ohms...if the sub is 8 ohms, and considering most car amps are 4 ohms, you'll have to get two of them and connect them in parallel to get a 4 ohm resistance.

If the Bose speaker you have is 4 ohms, I don't see why you couldn't hook it up to your car...just get an amp that is bridgeable.

Get a real sub.

I wouldn't recommend using a Bose "subwoofer" in your car. Mainly because they don't have the frequency response of a true subwoofer. They only go down to like 50 or 60 Hz, where as real sub's go to 30 Hz or below. You're better off using that "sub" in your house (or selling it to some sucker), and finding a real car sub for your car.
I worked for Bose for 6 months, and Circuit City for 3 months, this is why I know. Bose products are all marketing gimmicks- they're not nearly as good as everyone thinks they are.
