HEy guys Im about to install my beautifull stage 3 H&R springs provided by the man Sean at www.ctmotorsport.com, and was wondering any tips...warnings, anything I should know befor I attempt this. PLease keep in mind this is my first time installing anything suspension wise and I do have the Chilton's Repai Manual that gives fairly good directions on installation. I have the MCpherson spring compressor and completly ready to give this a go but just wanted to make sure that there are no tricks of the trade...or any added info that any of you that have done this could give?
THANKS :P .....did I forget to say......I GOT MY SPRINGS YEY !!!!!! Everyone said after the Kit pics that I need to drop well I wanted performance to and now I got it...WOOHOO, thanks again Sean !!!!!
Just dont scre around when you use the compressor, first time i did a set of springs, i broke my finger, damn thing wasnt fittef in right, it was the last time i trusted my brother with anything to do with cars :x
what u mean...elaborate its like saying well this thing f@$%ed me up but oh well....u have to tell me more so I dont break myn...LOL !!! Uh like u mean not to screew around as in once the compressor is on work quick, and not to leave it around with a spring compressed in it? Thanks for the reply!
Yea, i was gonna do my springs myself too and i wanted to know what kind of spring compressors you guys were using? I was going to get these on ebay do you think they will be ok? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1847915321
HEy yall Im done with the front easy as hell Im telling ya jsut takes some time. Dont buy the compressors rent them at the auto parts store nearest u...I payed 40 bucks and when i take em back i get 40 bucks and u can keep em as long as u want to!
Hey racerhex, i'm going to install my springs soon too (when I get them)
and I jsut wanted to know, are there any tips you could provide... you got any pics of the install process?
BTW - I was reading my haynes manual, and I read that like you need to tighten the bolts to specific torques?
How exactly do you do this? Is there a special torque wrench that measures how tight it is?
Anyway, andyone with experience with this stuff, please HELP!!
Thanks
Well to be honest get the big book like Haynes that shows how and its so simple its unbelievable, just be prepared for it to be a long process. Always have an other person help you if not 2 people and make sure to get two sets of compressors because u can have two friends compress one springs when u and another friend decompress and install the other! Other then that its easy...just be carefull...and I will post pics tomarrow or mon but no install pics...jsut befor and after!
i didnt worry about the torque spec but then again maybe Im stupid but my car is fine...now...LOL Im not sur...
Has anyone else installed springs, what did you do about the torque thing.... I still have a few days before the springs come in and I plan on researching more about this... if I find anything new, i'll let you know
peace

I haven't installed springs... yet... but go to Sears and get a Craftsman torque wrench. It's worth the investment, and it's warranteed forever. I made the mistake of buying a cheap one for like $25, and it broke in a year. I then got wise and spent the $50-60 on the Sears one, and it's worked perfectly for 3+ years so far. You'll use it for alot of stuff- springs, brakes, lug nuts, etc. If you are a DIY-er, spend the $ on one.
