Question Smaller Oil Filter?!

So I made a pit stop at the Dealership for an oil filter and found out they changed all the part numbers. I asked at the counter. they gave me the number, i got it and left. Once I got home I noticed the oil filter IS SMALLER than the one I have on. does this matter? o and yes I did a search before I posted but only concerned a bigger filter.

I used a small oil filter in my 96 since 97, just change your oil and filter every 3,000 and you'll be fine!

i have noticed that the dealer sometimes uses a larger filter than other times its a small filter. i think its ok. i may ask next time im due for a change. i usually get my oil changed every 4000 or so and i never have to add any oil, its still usually pretty clean looking too. i love my 1mz!!!

If you are referring to the 4cyl camry, the 2.2L 5SFE is supposed to fit the shorter oil filter. While the 2.4L 2AZ-FE is supposed to fit the longer oil filter. The longer oil filter has a pressure relief valve built into the top, the shorter one doesnt.

if the filter is hanging with the open side downward, use a smallish filter
