Question Program a keyless entry remote?

Hello all. Recently I was stupid and lost my keys =(. I still have my car key but I lost the remote for my 98 Camry XLE. A friend of mine gave me his 2001 Solara remote (he had an extra) to get programmed. Is this possible? I talked to a dealer and they want to charge me $150 to replace the remote or $85 to reprogram the Solara one (if it works). Any ideas?

Thank you very much for the instructions, but they did not work. Does it matter that my car is a 1998 and not a 2000?

i believe that it should work since it is a gen4. what does the remote look like?
if you do some search on google and type in RS3200 alarm or RS3200 alarm programming or RS3200 alarm 1998. You would also find it.

If you continue to have a problem check out www.remotesunlimited.com. I used them to get a replacement remote for an Acura that my kid bought used with no remote. The remote cost $35.00 with programming instructions. I called on the phone and they were very helpful.

Alright, out of sheer frustration I went to a dealer. They tried to program the Solara remote and it did not work =(. I suppose I'll wait a little while and see what my other options are. I suppose I could just buy a remote off of EBay ($30), and then bring it to the dealer for them to program it ($43).
