CD player aint workin'

today when i put in a cd it read it for just a second and then cut back to the radio, hmmm. It would not eject it or play it etc. I took the player out of the dash and apart so i could get my cd out (successful) but it still wont do anything. the contraption that blocks you from putting a cd in when there is already one in is down and it wont move.

Any ideas

my player would keep one in for a while if the cd was very scratched... but it would eventually spit it out
try a cd that aint hardly scratched at all... see if it works... if it dont, all i can say is get a new reciever
